Twelve Step Program
by mapleaf18 ini borrowed a copy of "jehovah's witnesses; portrait of a contemporary religious movement" from the library and my never-wuz-a-dubbie boyfriend saw it.
he looked a little pissed off and said to me "you've wasted 40+ years of your life with this stuff, i don't see why you have to waste even more time with this; but if you do, it's your choice.
i guess you have to have been there.

Women, Women, Everywhere..
by Englishman inseriously, there are more women dubs than men.
lot's more as i recall.
why would women be attracted to join such a chauvinistic, patriarchal and mysogenist religious group?

who escapes more often, those born into it or adult converts?
by kid-A inwhat strikes me on this board is the number of adult converts that have left the borg, either fading out or getting df'd.
from my experience (i was born into it, 2nd generation, left before getting baptized) most of the faders or escapees were also like.
me, born into it, never really accepted it and just bowed out at the first opportunity.

by mapleaf18 ini stopped into a local grocery store with my boyfriend and as we were squeezing the brocolli, i hear a big "hi" behind me.
for the life of me i couldn't remember her name.
it was a "sister" from my used-to-be congo.

Preparing for meetings
by daystar ini can recall from a very early age, that before just about every meeting, our family would be on edge while getting ready.
often some of the very worst of our personalities would show themselves.
we would argue and sometimes be downright verbally abusive with each other.
