  I can't stand that 'hooray another earthquake' thing

  i think that motherdarling actually likes to hear about earthquakes, especially the ones that cause a lot of death.

  i don't know why she's so excited about terrorist bombings and hurricanes though, they're not mentioned in matthew except for the faint out of fear thing.

  i saw a website once with exact stats on eathquakes in the last few centuries and was delighted to learn that they only seem to have increased because of the increased population in areas where they occur and the more sophisticated technology detecting small shudders and movement in seabeds etc.

  It didn't even occur to me who she was implying when she said "they're calling...".Maybe she meant the newscasters,but either way I knew it was just hogwash.I felt sorry for her and the other sister with her.They're both in their late 70's,and are probably starting to realize that there's a better chance they're going to die before the end comes.So they twist a tidbit of news to convince themselves and create a sense of urgency.I guess it's some form of jw delusionary denial.

  My Scan Results

  as many of you will know, yesterday i received my scan results from the haematologist.

  when i entered his office he was beaming and so i thought the news would be good.

  the chemotherapy has shrunk the cancerous lymph nodes in my stomach substantially!!

  Anything funny happen at a jw wedding?

  i have a few funny jw wedding stories.

  the first is what happened at my ex-husband's wedding.

  he remarried only 6 months after our divorce and so i guess the brother who gave the marriage talk hadn't quite recovered because when he announced the new couple to the congregation, he announced my name rather than the new bride's.

  We went to a wedding in Woodstock,ON a few years ago.A few guys seemed a little weird to me and maybe I struck them as wierd too,being a northener.Anyways,my feelings were confirmed when these married men started dancing together.One even danced by himself,jumpin' around like a fool and puttin' on a show of his own.I said to my wife "did you see that,and nobody says anything...".Is that normal behaviour at weddings in southern ontario?

  Why on earth do they need all those books?

  yes i know the standard answer - they want to sell books but hang on a minute.. .

  something that has always bothered me is that the average jw is incapable of explaining some of the most basic teachings without a wt book in hand.

  after all those years, all that time, all those meetings, why is it so hard to understand and teach to someone else?

  How did you tell old distant friends that you faded? Or do you?

  you all have been so helpful in the past with these things...and i have another "how to deal" question.... ok, we have been faded for a while now.

  we have pumkins out for halloween, as well as fun decorations...the problem is..we got an anniversary card today in the mail from some old witness friends where we used to live...they wish they could visit...they are prone to drop by un announced...so..have any of you had any sucess of "warning" old witness friends that you have changed?.

  we are still trying not to get disfellowshiped for family reasons.

  So the WT can be part of the UN for 10 and that's ok but you could get DF'd because you have a pumpkin on your porch???????? OK

  Anyways as far as fading,I don't say anything,I find the jw gossip pretty much takes care of it.If your so-called friends do show up and start asking questions,just be honest.Tell them some things about the religion bother you,you've asked questions about it and can't get answers.Did you know that in some countries jw's take part in celebrations that have pagan origins? AW 03 9/22 p.23-24

  I actually ran into an older sister in the grocery store today who told we were really close to the end now.REALLY??????? She then proceeded to tell me that "they're calling for an earthquake in Toronto,a big one" as if that means the end is closer.Now imagine the panic in Toronto if they were told a major earthquake is going to hit in a few days.I just smiled and walked away,shaking my head at some of these delusions some jw's are willing to invent to make the end come any sooner.

  how long did it take?

  newbie here, a lil about me......grew up around the jw religion, never was baptized but i did get to the level of "unbaptized publisher" once, as of now i dont attend any "meetings", but still get the watchtowers and awakes pushed to me by family members.

  it's actually been 3 years since i realized that it wasnt the "truth", even though i've probably have known it all along.

  my question to the groups is, how long did it take you to stop calling it "the truth"?

  I really can't remember when I stopped saying "the truth" but I definitely don't say it anymore.It really annoys me when I hear someone say it,like saying it makes more true.

  When a jw says "the truth",what they are really saying is "the current teachings of the watchtower bible and trap society".
