Washer blows up: Maybe I fed it too many socks?
by mamochan13 inwell my trusty washer has finally given up the ghost.
for two years now, ever since my daughters and four grandchildren all moved back in with me, it's been subjected to two or three loads daily.
last month when all the grandkids had the flu we were up to six or seven loads a day.

I'm livid & angry & sick!!!
by mamochan13 ini've finally had the opportunity to read the october 1, 2005 watchtower regarding education.
even though this board had already prepared me for what i was going to be seeing, it still surprised me.
i cannot believe that they are still demonizing post secondary education.

Maybe it's time for a little Mr. Deity Creation Realism alert
by mamochan13 insorry, i'm still having trouble making this clickable.
mr. deity hasn't been around on this forum for a few months, so i thought a look at the first episode might give some balance to the current atheist/believer arguments.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzf8q9qhfhi.

A New Language
by mamochan13 ini remember years ago cos telling the congregation how important it was to know the "new language" because we would be identified by it and it could save us when the end came.
they gave examples like "rendezvous for service" which was popular at the time.
lots of others.

Being DF'd - A Twisted Badge of Honour
by mamochan13 ini had this funny thought tonight that my experience having been df'd has somehow made me feel like i have more to offer in a forum like this.
it's like going through dfing has allowed me to see the absolute worst this religion does.
i've seen the ugliest and come out of it.

So sad to hear singer/songwriter Lhasa de Sela has died at age 37
by mamochan13 ini just heard today that llasa de sela died on new year's day of breast cancer, and the news has made me profoundly sad.. i first heard this amazing woman sing when she released her debut album, la llorona in 1997. although she made montreal her home she was actually born in the u.s. she was well-known in certain circles, but her music is worthy of a much wider audience.
hopefully more people will discover her incredible talent, now unfortunately lost to us.. too many wonderful people have been cut off too soon by cancer, not just incredible musicians like llasa and eva cassidy.. one of my favourites, el desierto: http://www.trilulilu.ro/juliaagripina/7ca416d4bb2fcb.

Testing what you believe
by mamochan13 ina news editorial i read this morning regarding protests/banning of the books golden compass from the his dark materials trilogy (soon to also be a movie) got me thinking about testing faith.
these books are apparently an answer to c.s.
lewis's chronicles of narnia, presenting an athiest perspective to lewis's "overtly christian" one.. as a jw i used to like the scripture about the boreans who daily tested their faith by "carefully examining the scriptures daily to see if these things were so" acts 17:11. in retrospect now, of course, i wonder how it is possible to take that attitude and still remain a blind follower, although apparently my borean-like approach freed me!.
