LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Watching contestants eat dead rats on NBC's gross-out stunt show "Fear Factor" so disgusted a Cleveland man that he has sued NBC for $2.5 million, saying he could not stomach what he saw.
In a handwritten four-page lawsuit filed in federal court in Cleveland on Tuesday, paralegal Austin Aitken said, "To have the individuals on the show eat (yes) and drink dead rats was crazy and from a viewer's point of view made me throw-up as well an another in the house at the same time."
His suit added, "NBC is sending the wrong message to its TV watchers that cash can make or have people do just about anything beyond reasoning (sic) and in most cases against their will."
He said the show caused his blood pressure to rise so high that he became dizzy and light-headed, and when he ran away to his room, he bumped his head into the doorway.
In a brief telephone interview with Reuters, Aitken said, "I am not at liberty to discuss the complaint unless it is a paid-interview situation."
A spokesman for "Fear Factor" said the show would have no comment until it sees a copy of the complaint. The spokesman said the program did feature an rat-eating scene in New York's Times Square on Nov. 8.
Over the years, contestants on the program have eaten some weird things, including ground-up spiders and live worms.
Where the hell is this country heading? Just his comment about a paid interview shows his true intentions.
I think it's about time for plantiffs in these types of cases to pay for court costs, especially the defendant's.
according to this article, the end of this particular war was the start of a strong bond, now known as a special relationship between our 2 countries.
http://www.napoleonguide.com/campaign_1812.htm.
and, ever since that date, the special relationship between britain and the usa has been totally fair and balanced with both countries giving and receiving in exactly equal amounts.. .
fair and balanced...
You mean like Fox News' "fair and balanced?"
we are so busted.
i learned tonight, from my source, that someon saw our christmas tree and reported it to the elders.. rats, our days of anonymity are likely almost over.
starting tuesday, the local congregation has the circuit and the district overseer, before their ca next weekend.
(((((Mulan and Dave)))))So sorry to hear your anonymity has been broken.
That's what I find so funny. Marilyn and Dave have never been anonymous and in fact post pictures of family members, trips, apostatafests, etc., but the WTS still hasn't done a damn thing against them. I find it hard to believe that anything will happen during the overseers' visit since nothing has happened in the past few years.

About time. Jehovah's chariot moves slowly these days. You guys must have some serious dirt on the society for them never to have *busted* you years ago.
hey, y'all!.
i'm driving down to texas right after christmas and will arrive in the greater dallas area on the 27th and will be staying until the 3rd of january.
i'd like to get to see some of you wonderful jwd texans.
Mmmm, Papasitos
i remember one of my childhood friends was found dead and the police said he committed suicide.
i just could not believe it because my friend was a "devout" jw almost franatical about it.
now years later since i have seen both sides of the coin i am beginning to wonder if my friend did indeed kill himself.
I attempted it once only a month after I was baptized. I don't remember the specifics for doing it, but I wrote two notes, one to my parents and one to my "friends." At the time, I think the overall responsibility that came with being baptized hit me hard. Not to mention my parents semi-shaky marriage, their refusal to let me hangout with my friends, etc.
You do remember the actual attempt though for years and years. I still remember sitting in my car in a closed garage for 4 hours. To this day, I still do not know how long it takes for carbon monoxide poisoning to take effect. If movies and other typical sources are any clue, I was always under the impression that it would only take around 30 minutes to an hour. But no, I sat there for 4 hours crying the entire time asking my parents, relatives, and friends to forgive me and that I would see them in the New System. I did not believe that Jehovah wouldn't resurrect me simply because I killed myself, contrary to WT teachings. I thought that he knew what I was going through and would understand.
After 4 hours in a closed garage with your car running, you do get a little tired. I also sweated like crazy. By the time I figured that someone would be coming home to find me, still alive, I decided to pull my car out and possibly try it again some other day. I really didn't feel like explaining what I was doing in the garage with my car running and crying. But stupid me, instead of getting rid of those notes, my parents found them during one of their routine searches for contraband. As far as they know, to this day, they think that I never attempted suicide, only thought about it. I was then promptly sent to a JW psychiatrist(an elder) in the area. I remember that I didn't say a word to him. I wouldn't open up no matter how hard he tried. I think it has been since that time that my overall personality has been subdued and people refer to me as being "quiet" and "shy." Funny, I just now realized that after writing about it. I only open up to people who I trust and have been good friends with for quite some time. Otherwise, I'm that creepy next door neighbor who doesn't say much but is a good neighbor nonetheless. No really, I'm a nice guy once you get to know me, I hope!
i seem to remember someone saying one time that if your cursor won't control, and goes all over the screen, it means you are being hacked.
mine is doing that, but not all the time.
it is very irritating.
Ah, an optical mouse. Sounds like a case of low battery to me....but do you have a wireless mouse? If you do, change out those batt's and you should be good to go. If it is a wired one, then clean the "eye" like a few others suggested. It shouldn't be your pad.
i have the scanned 2004 report pm me and i will email them to you.

To get a grasp on where the organization is heading, you first must put on your corporate thinking cap. Afterall, the WTBTS is simply a book and magazine publishing corporation.
If I were the CEO, I would first look at the numbers provided from years past and how it compares to the most recent data released. In industrialized nations, there appears to be negative or no growth, ACROSS THE BOARD. In 3rd world countries and also others known for not having easy informative access such as the internet, positive growth is a little more apparent. Less people coming in and more going out generally means declining revenues. Since the industrialized nations most likely carry other poorer countries in terms of revenue producing income, and without seeing individual country dollar figures, this area could be considered a wash.
So where does the money come in from? The largest portion comes in the form of direct donations from the publishers. The next major portion would probably be from donations to cover the costs of the literature. Wills, trusts, stocks, bonds, and real estate are nearer at the end I'm guessing. If my company's profits are beginning to trend downward, I need to attack that area, or areas, of declining revenue. What is causing it? I think we can all agree that "an informed witness is an ex-witness." The internet is wreaking havoc on the WTBTS. Too much sensitive and damaging information is getting into the hands of the R&F witness in the privacy of their own home. As the CEO, I know that I cannot put an outright ban on witnesses going on the web. The web is ubiquitous these days and is used extensively for business purposes. Many witnesses would rebel against a ban as more and more of them are getting computers and finding them very useful in everyday activities. If I cannot stop witnesses from getting on the web, reading about my corporation's twisted past and then leaving because I misrepresented my company, then I need to find other areas to trim back to stop or slow the lost revenue.
Where would I look to slow this revenue drop? The actual printing itself is one major area. If it takes 1,000 hours to produce one convert(increase that time for children of witness parents being baptized), then how many magazines are handed out without asking for a donation for every convert? Our company has already pounded and pounded the idea of the donation arrangement into every service meeting - at least the publishers are supposed to ask for a donation in their demonstrations. Should we cut back on the magazine distribution timeframe? How about combine the WT and Awake into one magazine? Instead of twice a month, how about just once? This alone would cut expenditures on printed materials by almost 50-75%. And the books? Well, we already did away with hardcover and we also cut the physical size of most books to roughly 50% of the older larger ones. Can we take advantage of electronic distribution? Would some witnesses prefer to print out Adobe PDF files of the magazines? Instead of offering the WT and Awakes at the doors, why not switch to using just tracts? Save the magazines for studies and witnesses themselves. Tracts would cost less to produce and effectively carry the same message as the magazines.
These are just a few ways to cut back on expenditures. Of course, we would need to mask these changes as being for the better good and to also show a progressive proactive stance so that the witnesses do not become disheartened as to the lack of spiritual food that they were once accustomed to getting. We can use words like: compressed, simple, cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and others that show we are trying to fit as much spiritual food as we can into one magazine without wasting the paper it is written on. If we see that donations continue to trend downwards, disfellowshippings must occur. We must always keep the fear of our God-given authority firmly entrenched into their minds. If they feel that they do not want to help towards to worldwide work, then they can leave. A non-donating witness is the same as a worldly person in our eyes. Dead money.
Ok, so the last part may not happen, but the rest very well could.
i know there's no such word as "witnessy" but this can be a fun thread.
*Walking through DC corridor holding sign saying, "Please be seated."*
"Do you believe that Jehovah is using the Faithful and Discreet Slave as we know it today?" -- If you hear these words, then you must be in trouble.
"Are you going to so-and-so's get-together?" -- Notice, JW's almost never use "party"
"Are you turning apostate on me?"
Phone witnessing.
"I am going to serve where the need is greater."
"Brothers, due to the Circuit Overseer's visit next week, our meetings will be changed as follows..."
"He was home but hiding."
"Sister so-and-so, do you have a washcloth or hanky? Since there are no baptized brothers present to say prayer, one of us is going to need a head covering to say it."
