Image could show cosmos at 300,000 years old
by peaceloveharmony inhttp://www.cnn.com/2002/tech/space/05/23/cosmic.snapshot.reut/index.html .
washington (reuters) -- new images of the early universe -- a time before there were galaxies, stars or planets -- show the cosmic ripples that eventually became every bit of matter and energy, scientists reported on thursday.
the pictures, made by a scientific instrument called the cosmic background imager on a remote plateau in chile, are the most detailed images of the oldest light ever emitted, the researchers said in a statement.

Has the mnknds cndition gotten better since 1914?
by D wiltshire inhas mankind condition gotten worse or better since 1914?.
the wt concludes that more people are sufuring more since 1914 because that year would spell trouble that would increase.. a brother giving a public talk a couple of weeks ago said mans life span has not increase any noticible amount even with all the advancement we have made in medicine and so the thought trying to be conveyed was don't trust science.. i know many will eagerly point out the facts.. join the watchtower or you will die.. only jehovah's witnesses have the truth all other religions evil and from the devil.. you must beleive the watchtower or you're going to die a painful death forever, isn't that really good news?.

Arrested for going kingdumb and dumber hall!
by D wiltshire inarrested for going kingdumb hall!.
last night (3/21) the mountain view (ca) police arrested me.. this happened as i was attending the sunnyvale congregation service meeting.. i was dfd last july and was told by the elders the conditions for reinstatement were meeting attendance, repentance along with not speaking to anyone or anyone speaking to me (shunning at its finest).
(btw, i was dfd for apostasy).

Me and my brother.
by nicolaou inan earlier discussion has been highlighting the differences between da'ing and df'ing.
xena said:i am sorry qadreena but i have never in the 20 some odd years i have been a jw ever heard of an unbaptised publisher being d/aed...marked as bad association yes..but d/a...no...but i guess stranger things can happen.... well that brought it all back.. actually xena the exact same thing happened to my brother in the early 80's.
he was only 14. he'd carried on associating with a friend of his who'd been disfellowshipped.

by LittleToe inafter much deliberation, i decided to go "out" at the end of a public talk.
it didn't go down too well, but at least i was able to give some of my reasons for leaving.. i've put some of the details on my homepage.
i'll update it more when i get the time and the strength.

Galaxies, rather than stars!
by Yadirf ini suppose that if i were an avid reader of the various astronomy magazines available i'd have more of an understanding about this.
for quite some time i've wondered how astronomers must calculate that there are so many galaxies (although obviously they don't know the precise number).
i figure that it apparently has to do with first determining that certain points of light, visible through telescopes, are farther out than our own "milky way" galaxy.

Unity & the noosphere (by a Jesuit palentol...
by Abaddon ini was introduced by means of a reference in a novel to a french scientist, theologian and philosopher, teilhard de chardin (1881 - 1955).
i've not actually read any of the guy's stuff, as i only today got round to having a look on the internet, but it's interesting stuff.. as a paleontologist, de chardin has a rather dodgy past - he was either taken in by or part of the piltdown man conspiracy.
as a theologian he was an unconventional jesuit priest and roman catholic, eventually assigned to china due to his unconventional beliefs.

BEAT that Child!
by Farkel inthis is sort of a continuation of threads on dubs and how they are conditioned to discipline their children.
someone questioned whether the society actually encouraged dubs to whup their children.
i only had enough time to dig up a few salient quotes from the wt magazine.
