WAYNE JOHNSON!!!! D.O. in Canada, biggest stuck-up i have ever met, think he's in his mid-70s now. super serious, never jokes around, people really are afraid of him. a few years ago he gave a talk at my circuit convention. basically said "brothers cannot be bald. why do so many brothers go to use the washroom during songs?! i expect the end in 6 months!" he was that wacko. he used to teach the mts school in canada until recently i believe.

another was henry goreup (? dunno how to spell his last name) he's a c.o. in canada, mid 50s to early 60s now. again, never laughs, if you joke with him he won't like it. super, super serious. he had a picture of an eagle that said "i am smiling" or "see? i do smile" something like that. just stupid.

Dear Amazing, Did your CO incident happen at a DC in Phoenix, AZ? My husband & I are remembering a similar incident that happened in Phx. We're thinking the 80's sometime.

Either that or the jackass CO did it in Phx also.

He even rapped on the microphone and made such a loud obnoxious sound that you just wanted to go beat the crap out of him.

Anybody ever encounter a younger guy named Campanga? He got swept up with living it up with Larry Graham and Prince and annoyed the Bejeezus out of a LOT of people!

Skippy - Your mustard story is hilarious!

I've told this story before on other threads. We had a CO in Massachusetts who was completely out of touch with reality. He used to brag that he'd never held down a full-time job (pioneer-bethel-CO). It became obvious when he started spewing his opinons.

He condemned anyone who failed to wash their dinner dishes before coming to the meeting.

He railed against the louts who didn't brush their teeth before a meeting.

I remember sitting there thinking, "I get home from work at 6:15 and it's a 7:00 meeting. Which one is it - wash the dishes or brush the teeth? Cause I can't do both and make it to the meeting."

This same CO swept through the circuit and imperiously insisted that the seating arrangement in every hall be rearranged - even the ones that had theater seats bolted to the floor. Then he instituted a policy that upon entering the hall for a meeting each publisher had to apply to an attendant who would escort them to a seat, filling up each row, starting with the front row - no seat left empty.

The elders all hated him - marathon elders' meetings, no excuses for failing to appear for field service on Wednesday evening (he'd even use the circuit assembly as an opportunity to shame any congregation that had less than 100% of the publishers out on the Wednesday evening of his visit), and he'd work only with children out in service.

He was a pompous ass, but the kids loved him.

Cobaltcupcake, he would only go out in service with children? kinds of rubs my sensitivities the wrong way... yikes. not saying anything, but with the current climate... yikes.
