Who Was Shocked By the Watchtower UN NGO Scandal?

I was shocked that they'd be a regular client of the Harlot's Escort Service, but was even more surprised and shocked that the rank and file accepted their "library card excuse" with no questions. Oh well, I guess if you're used to being fed bologna, doesn't make a difference what the source is, as long as you continue to chew and swallow.

Unfortunately I have not had time to read every comment on this thread so my apologies if I am repeating anything.

I have found that reaction to the UN involvement falls into two areas. Firstly there are those who were, and still are, profoundly shocked. It gave their faith a severe jolt.

Then there are those (in the majority) who claim that they would have been surprised if the Society were not affiliated in some way as they needed to ensure that they were aware of what was happening on a global scale from "the centre of activity". These people also say they are disapointed that the Society claims to no longer be an NGO, as they feel that this puts them at a disadvantage.

At no time in any discussions that I have had has any comment been made about "the wild beast" or the "harlot" nor any comment regarding the JW teaching on such matters or their previous strong condemnation of those "churches of christendom" who are registered as NGO's

On the whole I have found their reaction to be one of complete acceptance with no excuses called for, let alone acceptable excuses. Just totally hypercritical.

I really don't expect the org to be perfect.

However, I can only imagine how things would turn out if the shoe was on the other foot.

If I as an elder, a bethel elder no less, 'accidentally' joined a recognized enemy of the 'truth', the JC would:

    1. Check out how long I had been involved in this 'sin'.
    2. Find out when I first learned of the error and what steps I took to resolve the issue.
    3. Look for my repentant attitude, by ready admission of guilt or lack of repentance by my trying to justify or hide my 'sin'.
    4. Consider how well know the issue is in the community. How much reproach does it bring on god's organization?

Also, considering the lives that have been lost (Malawi, etc.) by jws trying to faithfully live up to what they thought was Jehovah's standard in similar circumstances, it's difficult to understand how they can so easily work around these kinda things.

the ngo scandal is another brick in the wall that the slave class is buidling against the true worship.

they are the reason that the trial will start at "his house" first.

O dont wonder anything what comes out more.

I learned via internet many things - eg. letter to Hitler ( trying to creep into his brown a**, using the jews to get favor by Hilter, orf do we think about the German Watchtower, Switzeland edition where they in 1943 confess that they stay to the arms ( the KWs in Switzerland becaus ethe branch feared to loose the property of the buidlings to the government).

I was disappointed when I learned bya internet that the German branch offices of WTS in nazi Germany - Frost, Franke and Winkler, were simple traitors of the brothers while the headquarter after the war made them to be heros of faith.

I take off my glasses of trust in WTS.

maybe a great a** arises over Crooklyn and leaves a giant shitheap, hiding this moloch of bullshit and haeresy forever.

I beleive in Jehovah and I am convinced that we still have a lot to learn - primarily to trust in him and Jesus. Those Crooklyn idols will get their Hinnom valley very soon. They are loosing water in kinid of people who leave them until they are a dry ruin.

Thank s to god that he has made us aware of what is happening - by internet and JWD

I was shocked when I learned about the Watchtower's association with the UN DPI, and what was required of them to maintain this association. For 20 years, at the Watchtower's direction, I was going from door to door "preaching the kingdom", and telling people that the UN was a counterfeit of God's kingdom. I told them it was the "disgusting thing that causes desolation" and that it was set up by Satan to mislead mankind. I told people the same lies the Watchtower told me.

I was very shocked and very angry, but not as angry as when I learned of the child abuse scandal.

Today nothing I hear about the Watchtower could shock me. If someone told me they sent out "hit teams" to whack "apostates" I would not be surprised.

    They are capable of anything.

When a friend of mine first brought this up, it didn't impact me all that much. I didn't really understand what she was saying and sort of dismissed it...until I started researching. There was something about seeing the WTS teachings over the years right next to the information from the U.N. and then the FDS's lamo justification for joining the wild beast that was very shocking to me. Now I can see that it's just another nail in the coffin they've been building for themselves.

As I was already familiar with the contrast between Mexico and Malawi, it wasn't a surprise or a shock.

In that example, during a period when it was acceptable for a Mexican JW to pay for a card that gave excused them military service (essentially a bribe), it was not acceptable for a Malawian JW to pay for a card which gave them access to food and supplies (a 'party card' of limited meaning in an effective one-party state, more of an ID card).

Mexican JW's could pay money and sort out a 'problem' with their stance on neutrality in an afternoon.

Malawian JW's could not pay money and sort out a 'problem' with their stance on neutrality, and had to suffer beatings, deprivation, imprisonment, torture, rape and murder as a result.

Thus finding out that JW's as an organisation had held a card which allowed access to the facilities (like a library) of a body they condemned and counselled must be avoided at all costs, whilst simultaneously dis-fellowshipping any Witness who held a card to access facilities (like a gym) of a body they condemned and counselled must be avoided at all costs - the example in this case being the YMCA - was not a shock.

It was a further example of rules that resulted in disadvantage or suffering whilst the very same principles used to make those rules were ignored elsewhere. More saddening than a shock I suppose... until you realise that people suffered and even died because of the inconsistant and convenient application of "principles". Then it makes you angry.

Such institutionalised hypocrisy is surely familiar to anyone who has read Jesus' anger toward the hypocritical attitudes of the Pharisees in the 1st Century.
