((((Tepic and wife)))) First of all, I am sooo sorry that you had to go thru that.......I wish I could say I am surprised, but, I'm not. I copied your above comment because, I am the same way as your wife, and I have been hurt so many times because of this. Tell her she is not alone, and to keep being who she is because there ARE people who appreciate this quality. I was once almost subjected to a committee meeting on the word of a sister, who told some of the elders who were her friends that I had accused her of being demonized. For the record, I had been a faithful elder's wife for almost twenty years at that point, and to see how this meeting went down and how I was treated during it, even to the point of being rebuked for being disrespectful..........well, it hastened my journey out of the borg. It was one more spike in the coffin of the WTS as far as I was concerned and within two years of that time, I was out, disfellowshipped for spiritism..........lol.........but, I went into that committee meeting and told them not to waste their time, I was happy with where my life was headed and no longer wanted to be a witness. Just one more display that shows the lack of love and prevolence of ego's within the congregations. Dont know the whole situation but I cant see how they could ever think that they are being loving shepards. They have deviated from Jesus course of love into a cold hearted power trip. The wolves once again peel out of the sheeps clothing.

Tepic, sorry to hear what you and your wife went through. I never did understand where the elders get their time frame for reinstatement. I was told that I could be reinstated within 4-6 months if I change my situation. But my brother changed his, and asked many times to be reinstated-they made him wait 3 1\2 years! He only missed 5 meetings during that period of time.

Its just wrong!

This treatment was uncalled for. Ruthless. Very, very bad behavior on their part.

According to their own religion's account of how an elder should treat the flock, they'll have plenty to answer for in the eyes of God.

I'm so sorry for what you've both been through, heartless and cowardly treatment. Where's the compassion these Shepard's of the flock are supposed to show their sheep? What would Jesus have done?

As a "victim" of cold-hearted, Phariseeacle (my word...does that make sense?) actions myself; my heart just breaks for your wife. It never ceases to amaze me how, after you've heard story after story about heartless elders, another one comes along that tops the others.

What a sad situation. Hopefully you and your dear wife will soon learn to not put yourselves in harms way.

The elders are victims too. They believe they faithfully serve a deity who will soon kill billions of people that they (the elders and their flock) may covet the land. Such beliefs can not help but numb the heart and soul.

JT, I agree with you to an extent. They have been trained to try so hard not to DF people, and then turn around and try so hard not to reinstate them. It's a very clear double-standard, transmitted from ~~butt~~headquarters.

But on the other hand, nobody in Brooklyn is directing individual JC's. They alone have the authority to reinstate or not. Given that, and given her attitude, and given their continued refusal to reinstate her, I tend not to call these particular guys victims. I admit I don't know what's motivating them, and I don't know how the JC meeting went. (And I don't know a whole host of other factors) But in the final analysis, I have to hold these men personally responsible for what they are doing to this poor woman.

tepic: Have you considered having her phone up Brooklyn? (718-560-5000) Her situation is so drastically unfair, perhaps she can get some special assistance from them? If she won't (or can't), will she let you? These guys have taken the extreme to the extreme.
