If indeed he is an elder in good standing, he would not quote sacred scriptures to admitted apostates or those who agree with them

AFIN, can you please explain as to why shadow cannot quote "sacred scriptures" to apostates. What the hell is that nonsense. We have the same friggin bible that you have, I can read it all I WANT.!!

Someone bitch slap AFIN for me, so she falls off of her pedestal and onto her pompous arse!

You are arrogant! One of the many reasons I chose to leave the JW's and their haughty arrogant personalities.

    a fiend indeed:

Having now read shadows personal opinions, and his personal slant on his quoted scriptures, everyone reading here should know that he is neither following scriptural advice or the policy of the society by doing so. If indeed he is an elder in good standing, he would not quote sacred scriptures to admitted apostates or those who agree with them.

And if you were a JW in good standing, following the direction of the "faithful and discreet slave" you wouldn't be here at all.

    RS:

Let's see ... you go out in the ministry to preach the "good news". You have no clue what kind of person you will meet at each door - yet you are willing to share scriptures with them freely - even if they tell you point blank "I do not believe in God". But you cannot share scriptures with someone who has been labelled (it's just a label used to induce fear, you know) an "apostate" because they have renounced the WTS - regardless of the fact that they still believe wholeheartedly in God and want a better understanding of His word. Yeah, that makes a whole lot of sense.

This is exactly true. I am not even a JW, but am married to one who converted about 5 yrs ago. (I've been following your plight )

Recently during a taped conversation he said yes, he would talk about these things to strangers but not me, his wife, (you know that person that is supposed to be your partner, your confident, your lover, yada yada)

The only obvious reason is that I am a little informed - most strangers are not. Deciding not to talk to someone because of the above or share beliefs sure shows just how shallow those beliefs really are. And using the excuse of being too high and mighty to discuss something so holy with someone they don't think deserves it, WOW. is not something Jesus taught in his "house house" ministry. Didn't he spend time in the synagogue talking to the pharASSies as well as the regular Jews - they had a different opinion and were no doubt very vocal about it. Did they all run away from each other in fear of hearing something new? or contrary?

Well maybe - those were the ones that set up the "stake" of torture.

Didn't you read in the Bible where Jehovah said, "And all of those who do not follow the WTS blindly but still own Bibles will find their Bibles to disappear so that they may no longer read my sacred word if they leave the WTS" ??

I concur, the arrogance leaves a bad taste in my mouth - shame on AFIN.

LOL, RS. I'm sorry I didn't read that passage. So then maybe I am to believe that since the sacred bible did not disappear from my house, that maybe I'm one of the "chosen ones"

That is absolutely horrible, wp!! I am so sorry for that. My husband talks about Jehovah, Jesus, the Bible, the WTS, etc with me all the time - I cannot imagine what I would do if he suddenly became so arrogant (and blinded by the WTS) that he would refuse to do so. Thankfully, that would never happen in a million years. But I am so sorry your husband does not feel as mine does. What hypocrisy!

    thank you Reb

We can talk about God, Jesus, the bible for a bit, but only for so long, sooner or later the word WT is mentioned and the conversation is abruptly ended. The eyes glaze, face hardens, breathing becomes laboured, then he usually leaves the room, then the house. There has been violence and unbelievable utterances. As I mentioned on another post, that is why I now always qualify that I'm not talking about God when I say WT. That doesn't work either.

Unless you see it for yourself you'd not believe it. Many here know what I'm talking about.

edited to add: Its like those old dracula movies when someone brings out the crucifix or waves some garlic.

See? I still think there's a damn good chance AFIN is an apostate going for a "teaching illustration" with all this.
