    Metatron:

You hate the Watchtower organization. And so does your back-up chorus. So anything they say or do is going to be twisted through your distorted glasses.

This is a completely honest and heartwarming experience for those who are devoted to a cause they believe in. It expresses the parents belief in the resurrection. It illustrates the devotion of even young children. The lesson is the same as the widows contribution. It may seem small and insignificant but everyone's contribution is important and counts.

This is another example of what is wrong with this board.

There are all sorts of appeals made in connection with death. There are memorial funds. People are encouraged not to buy flowers but to make out checks to the deceased favortite charity.

It's just that in this case you and your chorus just don't like JW's.

    Tough! Get over it.

Very sad how they keep reinforcing the pipe dream of meeting dead loved ones.

Not only that, they have created a subconscious association between sending money to the WTS and meeting dead loved ones.

    metatron,

In the article did the WTS offer ANY condolences to the family for that tragic death of such a young person?

If not, it's even more tacky and revolting, because it shows the whole premise of the article is that: the WTS cares more about the money from two chickens than a tragic death of a boy who is supposed to be one of their BROTHERS.

A glittering copper marquee spans the entrance, overhanging the solid brass doors. Over the marquee are three large arched windows. Building materials include marble from Italy, Vermont and Texas, limestone from Indiana, and granite from Maine to face the Corinthian columns.

Whole lotta chickens. Rooster Rooster Rooster Rooster

I'm sure the Watchtower Society sent condolences and money to the family---they just didn't want to "blow their own horn"---that's all. The Organization is known to give financial support to the weak and impoverished. The Society truly cares about people and kids too! They shared a beautiful experience with us as Proplog suggested only to have you awful 'postates try to tear the poor brothers to shreds. Make no mistake about it----Jehovah's Witnesses in the neighborhoods around this family gave these 2 grieving parents more chickens than Perdue could ever hope for. Yes sir!

For those who buy into every idea the Watchtower Society writes, it may be "heartwarming". But in reality this is a calculated ploy to play on the emotions of their followers. They're trying to prop up the notion that the Watchtower movement still has relevance.

It expresses the parents belief in the resurrection. It illustrates the devotion of even young children.

People can be duped into a belief or a devotion.

The lesson is the same as the widows contribution.
Just as the widow's contribution supported a corrupt Jewish religoius system that was crumbling, so did the money sent from this poor Nigerian household to the gleaming Watchtower office.

Yeah, but usually this is not published by the charities themselves.

BTW, who said the WTS is a charity?

The money grubbiness of the WTS is what seems to have some upset, but it was this sentence that caught my eye:

Because of Jehovah's promises, we are confident that we will soon - very soon- see Anderson again.

To me this article wasn't as much a guilt trip about giving money as it was a guilt trip to realize that Armageddon is near and people need the orgnization to survive it. Note that Armageddon is coming "soon - very soon". Even though this African mother or father wrote this, the WT must be in agreement in order to quote them.
