Quick point on Google translate API and the like. Guys I deal with code and API's daily. I can tell you without any equivocation that you absolutely cannot use a tool such as this to translate a book. Will it get a lot of it right yes however much will be lost. In some cases completely changing the meaning. This just isn't the way to go.

Exactly - I have a friend who is a translator (english-spanish), and it is a LOT of work. I just suggested using that tool to show that it is not an easy thing to do.

I have read 17 pages of this thread and all you're responses are the same. Posters have come up with valid reasons for not buying hard copies and you don't address this or suggest solutions.

Personally I think you have no power to make any affects of what is going to happen in the future with hard copies, legitimate electronic copies, or bootleg pirate copies. The copyright holder has her agenda and is going to do what she wants and what is in her best interests. You have no power to change her mind. You have no power to set a cost either.

Quite frankly I see your involvement as unproductive and you clearly have no idea about what it's like to wake up from a cult and to read information in secret.

Listen to us Hadriel and stop avoiding sensible solutions.

Why does your thread title mention Cedars made threats?

Why doesn't your title reference that you are asking this forum about the copyright issue?? ( AKA Beating a dead horse.)

What difference does it make what this community thinks about A LEGAL copyright issue and Cedars (again) if you are moving forward in assisting Debra Dykstra?

Why not MOVE forward?

Why bring up the issue again?

Why say Cedars made threats?

1-Guess your thread needed "Cedars" to get people interested.

2- In a Google search of Cedars your BS title may link his name with threat.

3- How do any of us know YOU are involved with "assisting" D.Dykstra? By your say so? Your thread title was very misleading.

Can I ask if the copyright is for sale? I'd put my money where my mouth is. I'm sure a few others would as well.

Overall this book is likely to never be a real money maker so I'm not sure why the fuss on revenue. Interest in publishing is going to be lukewarm at best. As the target population for the publication is minimal from a number standpoint. The only real value in the book might be in a movie right, but it isn't a good movie to adapt with.

I think in the interest of the copyright holder they might be best served by selling in copyright as it's likely the biggest bang for cash. Publishing will be a cost. I wouldn't publish it for the sake of revenue.

Integrity of the publication might be better served in the public domain or in a collective group rather than a sole holder.

Plus if the product was in common collective it would likely promote and bring the work to others faster than to rely on a revenue model.

Please let me know how translators are to be paid for alternate langs. There are well over a 100 or do we not care about people that don't speak English? More than willing to hear your sensible solution to this issue which is legitimate and very real.

@RipVanWinkle you assume I've been here to see all the shenanigans. I haven't been and am very new to the fourum.

I posed the title as I did as I wanted feedback as to whether or not others had experienced the same. There's no shady agenda. Bottom line it is all new to me.

I tend to take folks at their word. But at this point I don't believe you have a wit of business mentality whatsoever. If the business of getting this thing moving forward were your interest then you'd not be twiddling your time away with all the tidbitty back-and-forth in this discussion. @elderNewton doubt it. Paperwork literally just got transferred here recently. I firmly believe Ray and particularly Cynthia wanted the copyright holder to care for it.
