Anti-American? Do people only want their own opinions allowed?

But like a lot of poster who have been banned he was let back on after a while

What about all the others who SImon has "personality problems" with? I was surprised that TH could do all that, do what so many others have done by going on other boards and severely badmouthing Simon and then being let off the hook in a relatively short time. Kind of makes me wonder what TH has on Simon. I know others were not extended the same courtesy even though their contributions to this board were much more valuable than anything TH has EVER done, plus their "crimes" against him were not nearly as severe.

Stop letting your personal battles effect board policy. This board has become bigger and more important than any person's ego, the bodies are starting to pile up. My suggestion is to put control into the hands of more people, lets ban people for the right reasons, stop cutting people off from this community for personal reasons.

I have absolutely nothing on Simon, period. Really have have nothing to contribute? Insulting me now on here also. Should I post links to what I've contributed?

You say you have deleted TH's comments and that he is judged with the same standards. Do I have to remind you of the fake names he set up when you tried to delete him. Also when you delete his post like so so and so is a a**hole the damage is done that person has seen it and is already hurt. Do you not understand that?

erm ... he was deleted for that! Just what the hell do you expect me to do? If you have a workable suggestion I'd love to hear it

Yes this is sad and you are a prime example of this. Everytime I state something that is going on on the board that differs with your opinion you basically tell me I am clueless and do not know what is going on. I think you state this because I am making a valid point and you have no other way to argue it. You know what you have done is in violation # 9 of the rules states "To ensure all users feel safe and keen to participate, please avoid: Invading people's privacy" was this statement not on a private board. Are you not invading this man's privacy?

No, I am not invading anyone's privacy because it was posted on a public forum. If they are now so proud of their comments that they have since made them unviewable then that is not my concern.

All that TH posting here shows is that I do not hold grudges. He has nothing "on me" and has simply agreed to abide by the posting guidelines.

I believe it was more than just bad-mouthing Simon on another forum:

To top it all, you use my own forum to send messages to people inviting them to an alternate forum and constantly insulting me at the same time. Luckily, someone realised what a smack in the face this was and notified me. I see from the messages that you have been conspiring to cause trouble and try and make TH do something to get deactivated - this is disgusting behaviour IMHO and makes you a trouble maker. (as with the chat-logs, I look through the messages if I'm told something is untoward)

OK I am sorry but I have to put my 2 pence worth in now - If you all decide to shun me and make nasty comments about me, well to be honest I dont care, have had it dont before so I think I can cope with it again. I have made some great friends here and dont want to lose their favour but this is bugging me !

There are some really great people on this forum ! its such a shame when some let it down, you will note if you look at all my comments I dont think I have commented on this war as I too feel quite strongly, but hell I am not going to keep quiet now !

Before I go on and forget - Simon we do get Beef Jerky here in the UK, if you look in Asda (part of the happy shining walmart family) you will find it under the pet food section sold for dogs ! - says a lot for that all round american treat.

Simon has done a bloody good job of developing this forum, it is so clear to see the work that he has put into it, he has clearly stated along the way that this is a forum for us all to express our views, we are all different people from all different backgrounds and lives with one thing in common, we have all be strong enough to move on from that. We are no longer in the JW's and we are now able to say what we are feeling freely. If it causes offence to some, its a shame but thats how we feel (unless directed at someone) and we should be able to be big and adult enough to take on other peoples views.

I have spent a lot of time in the US, I have friends out there that I have a lot of time for them. Personally I agree that something has to be done in Iraq. I dont agree however at how our two leaders have gone about it. It seems now to me personally that Britain are holding Americas hand, if it was not for the British troops then I dont think there would be an Iraq still on this planet. We are there to do a job, lets bear in mind who here are being gun ho about it and who are whilst doing the job building up relations with the people there by playing football etc ? We all know at the end of the war, America will go gloating about how well they have done and what they have achieved, and no doubt this will be followed shortly with yet another America saves the world movie. Those that have heard of the movie U571 which is a true story of heroism with the heros swapped for americans by Hollywood will know what I am talking about. In the Meantime America will be there with their new government for Iraq and the Americans will go out there to make their money rebuilding it. Examples of this would be the American flag replacing that of Iraq in a we have conqoured manner. No doubt Canada will have to go in and clean up all the mess on a peace keeping mission. Moral of the story - America can be too damn patriotic for its own good and Britain is not patriotic enough !

However, the war is going on, we have no choice in the matter, I guess we just have to move with world events, remembering that Britain and America are a Coalition force, they are working together. So why cant we all be together, why cant we all speak freely about how we feel ! if something bugs you, send a message (Privatly) to that person and tell them you are offended, no need for being nasty and There is no need to air dirty laundry for all to see.

Can we also remember as I said before what Simon has done for us, I think everyone should take a min to think seriously about their life leaving the Borg without this forum, it is hell enough, this forum eases us through it, we gain support from each other and we make FRIENDS !

That's it Matt, i've had it with you. It's obvious you hate all Americans because you used the words "Hate, I, Americans" in the same post. I spit on you.

    Just kidding.

I think it all comes down to motive. TH has called me names but I don't recall he's ever told malicious lies about me and even when he was disgrunteled with me he was honest. There is a big difference in my book. I just think he's a passionate guy who lets emotion get the better of him sometimes. I can identify with that.

This is not about ego. I just try to keep the board running smoothly and "there" for people to use. I've already opened things up to quite a few people to be moderators and want to continue this with a view to handing it over completely at some point (believe it or not I'd like to get on with my life and this does take up a lot of time and effort). However, I think it always has to belong to "someone". While it belongs to me I will run it as I see fit and make no apologies for doing this. I try and do a good job as much as I can and be as fair as I can.

Perhaps you could suggest the "right reasons" for banning someone to me? Draw up a list with what would be acceptable to you.

    Scarlet,

Why would you expect to be deleted? Your post was extremely strongly worded, but no way was it insulting.

    Scarlet,

Any person who can find a way of deleting a comment before it has been posted should not be running a discussion board but should be baking brownies with God above.

    TH,

I have to say that if you exercised a little discipline before you posted and chose your words more carefully more people would read your posts than do. When a person resorts to the colored language in their posts it tends to result in the opposite effect than they intended and rather than reinforce their point, they tend to give the impression that they are losing control of their arguments and this diminishes their credibility. It is at this stage that Board wars start.

As to Dakota Red, while I do not admire what he wrote about Simon, he always presented his views in a most gentlemanly way and it was only when involved in the issues of America at war that he became agitated. Unlike most of us, this man has looked into the barrels of primed weapons before and well knows the cost of war. It is hardly surprising that he feels very strongly about this whole issue and I for one am sorry that he is not still here presenting his views.

    HS
