Simon, I can accept your explanation. I think its unfortunate what happened, but its your rules, your place.
As far as conservative or liberal, it boils down to more than just a party platform. Some who are "conservative" don't believe the government should tell people that they can't have an abortion or should levy taxes at all. Other conservatives believe that governemnt should have a hand in "traditional values" and instilling them in our populace. I think you have to take what you believe is right through your own beliefs, morals and experience.
I have defended time and again my position on this war, some in quite lengthy posts and I don't see why its necessary to call me a "Bush robot" when I have at least stated that I have an opinion beyond the statement "I support the war". You don't have to agree with me, but you can at least give me the benefit of the doubt that I have actually reasoned within myself that this war is the right thing to do and am not some "abject follower of an illegal american regime".
Positions change, Ideas and thoughts change. Most of us used to go sell Watchtower magazines at peoples doors, I thought I was doing the right thing at the time, as I'm sure a lot of people here did. We don't feel that way anymore because we had an open mind and were willing to consider all of the possibilities. Lets all give ourselves some more credit than we are getting, and that goes for those on both sides of the issue.

*Yawn* At least I've never brought your kids or family into any argument Prisca, that's why I'm better than you, I would never stoop that low.

Just so I don't sound like some asshole hypocrite I'm posting my comment here as well...plus some more that I just thought of..*LOL*
Super Short Treatise On Egos & Assholes
I would just add that it comes from both sides and I find it utterly fucking rediculous that people argue over a topic they know is heated and are willing to screw up relationships and lose friends, so they can be right or justified in any particular political point of view.. I just don't think stirring the pot is as in the past words of LB "is classy".
We can debate the academics of war and its validity in a moral, legal, humanitarian, ethical sense or whatever, but when pro-war rhetoric, or anti-war rhetoric leaves the arena of friendly debate, one has to ask one's self if its worth it or not? Most especially to the extent that people want to part ways.
As well, I think Trauma_Hound should be the last to contribute to a thread that he knows will stir the pot just to show that he is still around and wants to act like an ass and not contribute to much else but these goddam stupid war threads. I hope DR gets as many chances as he has.
ALL of it should cease for the common good of everyone IMO. Polotics and religion are the shittiest things humans ever argue over...well besides money, but that's an even older trait...you freaks figure it out. Have a good evening everyone.
Sincerely,
District Overbeer

Ah yes valis, it takes a lot of class to talk about someone behind they're back. Low class that is. Stirring the pot? Excuse me, but I was mentioned several times in this thread, you talk about me, then expect me to not respond? Can you comprehend that? Are you capable of assimilating that information. I think you are, and well you just stirred the pot once again, kind of hypocritical. Who's acting like an ass, XW brings me up, BTW thanks XW, I'll never defend you again to someone. There's a few back stabbers here. At least I know my integrity is in place.

TH- I didn't attack you. I was furthering the comparison that Simon made between what DR did and what you do. I was speaking about your behavior. You may be a really nice guy- your behavior is insulting and offensive at times. And you know it is. And you know it isn't something you do from time to time- it is a habit with you.
I have no problem with you TH- it's how you choose to behave towards others here that I am commenting on. It is quite possible to be passionate about what you believe in and to debate that without insulting others. Please read what I wrote once again and see if it looks differently to you if you understand that I meant no malice towards you with it.

Personally, I can see both sides on this insulting business. I fully understand where both Simon and Dakota are coming from, which one I agree with more is beside the point.
I don't agree however with deleting someone off of this forum for what he said on another one. as far as insults go, those that support the war are considered Bush robots and war mongers here and I don't see any of that being censored, but let me call someone directly a tree hugging liberal hippie .... fill in the blank and see what happens. That is unbalanced and whether you want to admit it or not Simon, things on this board lately have been very imbalanced. Just my 2 cents..
Oh yeah one more thing for anyone who cares.. Here is Iraq's Info minister for you, courtesy of DakotaRed

>No, Dakota Red was a GREAT poster...
Don't make me laugh. When I tried to explain my point to him a few weeks ago,
it was like he was doing his best to "misunderstand" me so that he could feel
good about himself or whatever.(I don't think he is stupid)
When I tried it again he went into some sort of anticommunist tirade and that's when I gave up
on him.
Now it turns out he is some sort of backstabber running to another forum to go
whining and insulting there,I would not put up with such behaviour either if I was
running a forum... -

Maybe you should actually go read the threads in order, then tell me that again.
im not sure if you really dont understand whats being said about you here, or if youre just pretending to be oblivious. what order your and dr's threads came in has NOTHING to do with the fact that your insults are habitual. if you dont know what the meaning of the word habitual is, look it up......your insults are habitual, and this has nothing to do with dakota.......you insult (or have insulted) pretty much everyone who disagrees with you on anything.....dont make your bad habits all about dakota.

Tyydyy;
You May have a point or two in your bleeding heart liberal blow hole you call a head but your delivery is about as smooth as an ex-lax and jalapeno sandwich.
Good to know that your political opinion isn’t affecting your ability to be objective.
At your age you should have picked up a little class. Or are you the little boy that everyone picked on when you were a kid so now you try to be tough and mean behind the safety of your computer screen.
Ah, nice dig. How old am I and what is ‘class’? Were you the boy who picked on other boys? So, when you have a go at some one for being “name calling, inflamitory (sic), remarks or demeaning language” the first thing you do is claim the moral high ground by doing what you’re accusing them of doing? Hmmm.
Why is it a big problem to tell someone they have a half-arsed contradictory argument when that is what they have? All you complain about so far is delivery. So far I read, “well, I can’t argue with the points you made, but I can whine about the way you made them”. I think the people with the 'right on, yeah' comments are just FUNNY, by the way. "Yeah, he's not addressed one issue but he's giving him hell, woo!"
Let me impart to you a little piece of wisdom. Intelligent people don't need to resort to name calling, inflamitory remarks or demeaning language. If everyone communicated the way you do there would be no intelligent debates on this forum.
Still haven’t even touched on one point I made about ThiChi’s post, have you? It was trash. If you think it is acceptable behaviour to post lies (or inaccurate statements if you want to really give the benefit of doubt to the slack-jawed-gutter-press accuracy of ‘thousands … a day’ et. al.) and distortions, well, I beg to differ. The fact is, I don’t think you DO think it is acceptable behaviour to post lies and distortions, not from what I’ve read of you. So, lying is less bad than calling someone on posting trash? Hmmmm. Speak to me of your wisdom Maaaaaster!
I have to ask, if someone had posted propaganda statements from
Straw man argument, and hypocritical with it as the Republicans backed Saddam whilst he was committing human rights violations and sold him stuff to help him do it.
As you have just tried bait and switch by asking me questions, to try and distract from the reeking pile of $hit you posted that a child could pick apart, I just have repeated your original post, with subtitles for the hard of understanding.
Given the above analysis your statement that can’t think and my take on history has no merit when compared with reality is laughable as it seems it applies to you, not me.
Deal with the issues or be shown for what you are.
