Cofty, because I know you, you know that I know that you know my answer to this. The resurrected Jesus has the same sort of body that we will have. A glorified body. What does that entail exactly? The Bible doesn't comment other than to say that it is a body clothed with immortality. Would an immortal body have a need to eat? I would speculate that it would not since not eating would lead to death; something that cannot happen to an immortal person.
There is no basis whatsoever for such a conclusion.
PT- No I no longer believe in a personal creator.
Humanist and Environmentalist would best describe my world view now.
Cofty, read my response again. I described what makes up the spirit.... and admit that it is only a partial understanding. I answered in the positive. As well, do you truly think that we have the tools to detect everything in this universe at the moment? Or do you perhaps consider that there are a great many things beyond our ability to measure them. History and science would lead one to think so, imo.
If you want something better than the definitions you have been given, you might have to consider asking the One who does know.
Stephen, great to see you!
I know what the jw's teach. He did rise in the flesh, but he was not limited or confined to the flesh.
Peace to you both,
tammy
The dilemma for the Christian Believer is that they have placed their most intimate emotions into concepts and ideas which can contradict other Christian Believers and which have no measurable proof.
We roundly dismiss spiritualists like Fred Franz for coming up with ideas out of his imagination because they could be proven wrong by either science and other measurable means.
design : that happenes with athiest and evolutionist as well. yes me and tammy are both believers for example and there are doctrines we see different. so what is ur point ? the fact that me and tec or me and christ alone dont believe the same in some things in not a big deal for me. if another christain shows me something that im wrong about i will change.
The problem is Believers are saying that Christianity is the Way and that said God is laying out a path that must be followed yet hundreds of interpretations show people are just expressing their inner ideas. Fred Franz is a accurate as Pat Robertson or Martin Luther and John Calvin for that matter if that is how Believers set their criteria.
I think therefore I am.
jesus is the way theres a differance between fred pat matrin and calvin . fred franz taught lies and denyed christ is the only way for salvation by teaching you need an org. pat robinson is a scam artist who sells lies. martin spoke out against the evil catholic church and spoke the truth that salvation is in faith alone. and as far as i know calvin held to bibilcal views of salvation (thou his view of predestation is different then some) so i would say fred and pat are not my bros in christ! they are twisted people
ustop- You should qualify your 'biblical views of salvation' to a certain interpretation of the New Testament. This again shows that there is no simple consensus on the NT and that Christianity is a mishigoss of personal interpretation and experientialism.
you Snide remarks of Jesus's bodily functions is disrespectful at best and down right bath room talk of little boys at worse and does not contribute any relevance or further insight on the topic. - Pterist
So you falsely accuse me of making personal attacks then you indulge in them - hypocrite.
What is disrespectful about my questions?
If Jesus has a bloodless body then that has a lot of implications for what sort of body it is. It would mean he also has no functioning heart or lungs or digestive system and therefore no need to go to the toilet - and no need for an anus.
On the other hand it has been asserted that the record of Jesus eating a meal in his post-resurrection body shows that it was really human.
But if Jesus went to heaven with this body then he has blood because blood is needed to carry oxygen to metabolise food.
If he has a digestive system then what does he eat? Of course he will need a celestial toilet and a supply of toilet paper. He will also fart numerous times a day like all humans.
What is wrong with asking about god's bodily functions anyway? Are you a prudish Victorian aunt who think that it is dirty to talk about such things. According to you your god invented poo and pee and farting and you insist Jesus has a human body so what is there to be so coy about?
Then to complicate things further Jesus told Tammy that he puts his fleshly body off and on like a winter coat.
Why do believers get so nasty when people ask them a few simple questions about their contradictory beliefs?
