bottleofwater - given the fact that the brochure is openly deceptive about the existence of a "governing body" in the First Century, it's fairly safe to suggest that it's being equally misleading regarding the claim that all decisions of the modern day Governing Body are "unanimous".
It's all part of "theocratic warfare", dontcha know!

This cult loves to play with semantics. They could argue that a unanimous decision doesn’t necessarily mean a unanimous vote. The vote could be part of the process inreaching the unanimous decision and a two third majority vote was part of the process the holy spirit employed. They all unanimously yielded once this majority was reached. The idea of a first century GB is a completely misinterpretation of the bible and the conclusions made from that conjecture is also completely dishonest. The way the phrase “unanimous decision” is used is also devious as there could be an alternative interpretation of that phrase.

Interesting, then, that Fred Franz gave a speech (at Gilead, I think) in which he said there was no first century Governing Body.
Srsly. IIRC in 1980s they taught us there was no 1st century gb--we now needed it b/c Jesus was no longer on Earth so the anointed gb were here to serve as our channel to jesus.
If my memory is correct, this new brochure contains a substantial deviation from previous teachings. This reminds me of the "we are all prophets/none of us are prophets" debaucle.

good point castthefirststone - reminds me of the UK government policy of collective responsibility - once the Cabinet decide something, individual ministers have to agree with the outcome, at least publically.

Q: Why does it go from "governing body" in the first century [no capitalization] to "Governing Body" today [capitalized]?
A: Because capitalization is a subtle way to imply legitimacy as if it was a TITLE or a Proper Noun as a opposed to the JW made up description that it really is. JWs go D2D "disproving" the Trinity doctrine by pointing out that the term "trinity" is not in the Bible, but they follow a Governing Body which is also not a Biblical term. Speaking of "following" ...
You just gotta' love this bit of self-serving propaganda, "Its members do not regard themselves as the leaders of God's people." Really? If that is true, then why are people disfellowshipped for disagreeing with them or for not following them? Because they are lying, that's why!
