Let's settle this and stop the madness

OTWO have you never wondered WHY the Bible "is madness"?

I am going to tie this back to the opening post.

There are people who let themselves be led by others. There are people who take advantage of that.

The first writings put together into "a book" to become the Bible were gathered by politicians who wanted to control people, written in great deal by priests who wanted to control people, expanded on by priests and politicians who were sure they could do even better at controlling people.

The book would be no more madness than any ancient writings if they said it was a book of legends, but the people who live as if it's actual history and instructions from God rather than thinking for themselves are promoting madness.

I had no intention of "preaching" my nonbelief on your thread, but you asked so nicely what I wondered.

I don't know if your being mean or sassy mingy or fresh.

Both mingy AND fresh. Just like a ceviche lobster salad.

N.drew, I participate in the "Discuss Jehovah's Witnesses" over at Beliefnet.

Check out the conversation between me (Knowsnothing) and eloquens here.

It's frustrating as all get out to get them to admit their doctrines have no basis, but I believe these discussions are important for lurkers, because they can see the mentality of a JW defending the undefendable. I personally am thankful for this, for it helped me open my eyes in what is an honest, open discussion.

I dared not come here first, so beliefnet and jwfacts were the stepping stones for me.

James wood said it well: let's let this thread lie fallow and move on...over and out.

Knowsnothing I can't read it. It is covered by an ad for clean air in Maine.

The question was why do they continue to call themselves "faithful and discrete slave". Why not call themselves what they are, the Governing Body?

Good question. What was the answer? Was it stupid, or pull out your hair stupid?

Actually, they do call themselves the Governing Body.

They just cannot bring themselves to also call themselves the Faithful and Discrete Slave. They do not seem to know who the F&DS really is any more.

PS - Thank you for introducing me to the term "mingy & fresh". I believe this belongs in a movie somewhere.

I found a partial roll of LifeSavers in an old jacket pocket that were mingy but not fresh.
