In all fairness, THAT was a fairly accurate observation. If you are not born in, a time comes when a JW quits "wasting their time". Either put up or shut up (i.e. get baptized and make progress or get dropped). If you are born in, you don't have that same 6 month - 18 month "unspoken" timeframe. On the other hand, if you are born in, you do have to at least be old enough to get baptized - (what is that now? 8??? - shaking head) so there's some built-in extra time.

I think the point is that it IS different if you are born in vs coming in.

Stephen, for once, I like the scripture you chose...

Cool. See if you like this one Jeff.

    Matthew 23

23 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

25 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

27 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

29 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous. 30 And you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.' 31 So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers!

33 "You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

    All the best,

    Stephen

GG, good pick up. I think that is a legitimate discussion. I wish AE would have framed it that way instead of "born ins are better off".

It is different for born in's . There is a certain assumption of trust, because you have a lifelong history of indoctrination. Those who come out of the world are generally less afraid to go back to the world if something happens they disagree with.

Born in's are generally less inclined to leave at the first sign of trouble, unless they are teens who rebel. To them I say, I am glad you rebelled. I wish I had joined you.

ATJ - you were born in, right? I wish I had had the guts to rebel too. If I had only known THEN what I know now - but when you are indoctrinated from birth...it's tough to make that break.

GG, yes I was. Not only was I a born in, but a self righteous @$$hole born in. I have since repented, but that doesn't change how it was with me.

One thing that caused me to behave this way is the idea that I was better! I was a JW, goody two shoes, my crap didn't smell, butter didn't melt in my mouth, M&M's didn't melt in my hands.... I believed it, because thats what I was taught.

Pioneered since 16. MS at 19. Hard to do that unless you are a born in.

What I now know is, being a born in got me sucked into a cult mentality, where "we" were better then "they". And I was in the noble work of finding "worthy" ones to join "us", so that "we" could get "them" out of "there".

    ATJeff, of the "quoting" class.

Iwas raised in the Org. I waswearing suits at 4 years ols, never had a birthday or Christmas, was bullied at school. It led to me living a dounle life. I wasn't the only one. Goody two shoes at the hall, smoking at school that's the what being raised in truth does.
