"Oh, come on. Loosen up. You are way too serious."

Good advice, in general. But not applicable to what has happened here.

    You need to grow up.

A good education is wasted on the unintelligent.

You don't need to change Nath. Compared to some folks on the board you're a pussycat.

I have no problem with people whose personality is one of "laying it on the line." I actually get along best with those kind of people. You never have to guess where they're coming from and I appreciate that kind of honesty.

In your own words, you find "enjoyment" in petty name calling and verbal crushing and bullying of others. No matter what your credentials are, or how many languages you speak, I find it difficult to respect someone who "enjoys" causing mental suffering in others. This is what bluecanary was trying to tell you. Up to this point, I respected what you had to say.

I have worked with many doctors and specialists. They have seen all the same things you describe. Yet, I haven't found one who would find "enjoyment" in causing suffering. They are generally some of the most caring individuals, as reflected by their choice of career. I have seen a few doctors get yelled at by unreasonable patients, and to a person, they have handled it in a mature manner that both defused the situation, and allowed the other person to keep their self-respect and dignity. And none of them continually threw their credentials in anyone's face to prove their point. ( I didn't even know the current doc I work for was actually a surgeon in his home country, until I worked for him almost a year.) In your own words, you said you would rather "punch the 90 year old man in the face" and would enjoy doing it.

As I said, I have no issue with people who want to "tell it like it is." I just think it can be done in a way that allows the other person to maintain their dignity and self-worth.

As was mine. Unfortunately, one cannot be baptized as a JW without subjecting themselves to the organization as well. These very words are in the baptism questions.

This is the part that proves the JWs to be a cult. The Bible has very exacting reasons why to, who to, and how to get baptized and the Watchtower is nowhere even close.

OH! but that is why they call it "God's Eartly Organization" or whatever cliche is in vogue today?

if you get D/Fed for apostasy you have committed a sin against the holy spirit, also if in the rare event that you get R/I'ed you can never be an elder/pioneer/MS/Bethelite etc, basically you will end up on the WTS scrapheap until you die, unwanted no use to anyone

Thank you, Nath, for taking the time to clear that up. If anyone understands and appreciates the unique challenges and stresses of your job, it's me. My best friend is the RN who works in our clinic and my daugher-in-law is a labor and delivery nurse.

And yes, there have been times when I haven't dealt with difficult patients in the best way. I am disappointed in myself when it happens and I do try really hard to show compassion. I understand I am not seeing people at their best - they are scared, in pain, confused by the medical system and often take it out on me. Even when I have to be firm, I try to be kind.

Having been on the recieving end of unkind and/or abusive people has made me sensitive in this area, as well. So if I also misunderstood your views, I apologise.

Perhaps the ideal is a good balance.

    Truce, my friend?
