    LINE OF COMMUNICATION

    16 Someone may ask, What has been the means of communication? This may well be illustrated by a modern-day example. Communications lines have (1) the utterer, or originator, of the message; (2) the transmitter; (3) the medium through which the message passes; (4) the receiver; and (5) the hearer. In telephone communications we have (1) the telephone user originating the communication; (2) the telephone transmitter, which converts the message into electrical impulses; (3) the telephone lines carrying the electrical impulses to the destination; (4) the receiver reconverting the message from impulses to sounds; and (5) the hearer. Likewise in heaven

    (1) Jehovah God originates his utterances;

    (2) then his official Word, or Spokesman—now known as Jesus Christ—often transmits the message; (3) God’s holy spirit, the active force that is used as the medium of communication, carries it earthward;

    (4) God’s prophet on earth receives the message; and

    (5) he then publishes it for the benefit of God’s people. Just as on occasion today a courier may be sent to deliver an important message, so Jehovah at times chose to use spirit messengers, or angels, to carry some communications from the heavens to his servants on the earth.—Gal. 3:19; Heb. 2:2.

    Perhaps I'm missing something.

    Isn't this material specifically referring to the Bible canon?

    I'd like to see the context but either way the thought is conveyed that the GB/Society/bOrg today is that prophet. Notice the highlighted parts:

    (1) Jehovah God originates his utterances;

    (2) then his official Word, or Spokesman—now known as Jesus Christ—often transmits the message; (3) God’s holy spirit, the active force that is used as the medium of communication, carries it earthward;

3:19; Heb. 2:2.

    I think I still have this book...I'll have to look it up and read the entire chapter.

    The following "reasoning" diverts the attention from the fact that the WTS has put forth wrong dates. *

    ** w86 3/15 p. 19 pars. 14-15 Allow No Place for the Devil! ***Finally, we might consider what the Society has published in the past on chronology. Some opposers claim that Jehovah’s Witnesses are false prophets. These opponents say that dates have been set, but nothing has happened. Again we ask, What is the motive of these critics? Are they encouraging wakefulness on the part of God’s people, or are they, rather, trying to justify themselves for falling back into sleepy inactivity? (1 Thessalonians 5:4-9) More importantly, what will you do if you hear such criticism? If a person is questioning whether we are living in "the last days" of this system, or perhaps is entertaining ideas that God is so merciful that he surely will not cause the death of so many millions of people during the "great tribulation," then this individual already has prepared his heart to listen to such criticisms.—2 Timothy 3:1; Matthew 24:21.

    15

    Yes, Jehovah’s people have had to revise expectations from time to time. Because of our eagerness, we have hoped for the new system earlier than Jehovah’s timetable has called for it. But we display our faith in God’s Word and its sure promises by declaring its message to others. Moreover, the need to revise our understanding somewhat does not make us false prophets or change the fact that we are living in "the last days," soon to experience the "great tribulation" that will pave the way for the earthly Paradise.How foolish to take the view that expectations needing some adjustment should call into question the whole body of truth! The evidence is clear that Jehovah has used and is continuing to use his one organization, with "the faithful and discreet slave" taking the lead. Hence, we feel like Peter, who said: "Lord, whom shall we go away to? You have sayings of everlasting life."—John 6:68.

    Who, of all religions on earth today, has "the credentials of a
    true prophet?" I can see only two possible answers to this question:

    1] The Society
    2] Nobody

    If the Society does not claim to be a *real* prophet; a true prophet
    then wouldn't that mean that there isn't *any* actual prophet on earth today? The only other source of prophets would
    be "Babylon the Great," wouldn't it? Isn't the Watchtower Society
    the only possible source of a real prophet? But if they deny being
    such a prophet, then wouldn't that mean that there isn't one single
    prophet on earth today? (Don Cameron)

    LWT......using the model the watchtower gives......look at this statement

    *** w84 5/15 pp. 6-7 1914—The Generation That Will Not Pass Away ***

    Is There Enough Time?

    From a purely human viewpoint, it could appear that these developments could hardly take place before the generation of 1914 disappears from the scene. But fulfillment of all the foretold events affecting the generation of 1914 does not depend on comparatively slow human action.

    Jehovah’s prophetic word through Christ Jesus is:

    “This generation [of 1914] will by no means pass away until all things occur.” (Luke 21:32) And Jehovah, who is the source of inspired and unfailing prophecy, will bring about the fulfillment of his Son’s words in a relatively short time.—Isaiah 46:9, 10; 55:10, 11.

    so.....jehovah originates the prophecy

    jesus telegraphs it

    the "prophet" receives it

    ........and publishes it for the benefit of god's people.......or not as the case may be

    "Isn't this material specifically referring to the Bible canon?"

    Yes it is. I just read it from the CD.

    It goes on to say "28 That which has been recorded and preserved as the Holy Scriptures is not to be tampered with. "

    I guess the WTS does not consider attributing to God their idea (that "the generation" is the generation of 1914) as tampering.

    BTW I do.

    This statement, that has appeared in WTS publications many times, makes the WTS and all who follow the WTS, false prophets.

    "Jehovah’s prophetic word through Christ Jesus is:

    This generation [of 1914] will by no means pass away until all things occur.”

    Peace
