Thanks, everyone. I was on the phone all night until bedtime. Then I have been on the phone since I woke up this morning. I haven't had time to process this a lot.
I really, truly do appreciate the condolances and care you are expressing. Death is the great equalizer. No person or family is immune to this, that we know for certain.
I do believe in an afterlife. And I believe in a Great Spirit who loves all of us earthling travelers and other unseen intelligent beings and that there is nothing he cannot repair and that brings me some comfort. Soft tears are flowing. The hard thing will be to speak with his wife. There are some profound, complicated circumstances involved here.
