    Not fast enough, Nelly!

Unless the machine was already in use, she would not have had the time to benefit from it!

You can bleed out in childbirth in a couple of minutes! This is why midwives and obstetricians are so terrified of post partum haemorrage! There is NO time to deal with it except with a rapid infuser and whole blood! Post partum haemorrage is like turning on a tap!

    Ten minutes is not enough!

Cell Savers are a very good option. But they are useless in an emergency situation where there is rapid blood loss such as a hemorrhage. Cell Savers are great for less rapid bleeds not so much for Hemorrhage. Hemorrhage means abnormal bleeding or copious amounts of blood.

The husband is obviously regretting his and her decision to say no to blood. She signed the form he and the family stood by their decision. Don't place the blame on the hospital, doctors, nurses or any other medical staff. We often have to stand by heart broken and even in tears because we know we can do something but the patient or family will not allow it. Medical staff are not heartless - most of us are in this field because we care about humans and human life!

The mum decides it is better to save her own skin, by putting herself in a better position with Jehovah with the hope of a resurrection (key word being HOPE not a promise) rather than be there for her children RIGHT NOW who need their mum. Seriously, what are witnesses thinking? i'd rather lose the so called hope and put my children first, surely any reasonable God would not respect a mother for abandoning their children for a selfish reason like this. Everlasting life is nothing when you think of the pain these kids are gonna go through growing up.

    In memory of Emma:

Incredible - local JWs are defending this by saying that the newspapers haven't got the full facts and that Emma Gough didn't die through lack of blood, but died from a heart attack around 3 days after giving birth! They even know she complained of feeling ill, then died.

Sad to think that all these wasted lives comes out wholly in part from a few men wanting power, it's a great human tragedy !

She was just 22 so young. While in school your expected to change you major a least 3 times cause a you grow and learn more through exp. you start to change. 5, 10, or 15 years from now whose to say she would still wanted to be a J.W. Now we will never know. She was so young R.I.P

The truth of the situation will out in time when the coronor publishes his report.

One way or another we will find out what happened.

It is certainly the case in the UK that maternity services are not what they used to be and that in some parts of the country they are described as 'third world conditions', but again everyone has to wait for the coronor's decision now.

If this lady died because she had no blood then the WTBTS is to blame. If she died because of other reasons, then it will be interesting to see whether they were preventable.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for a coronor to deliver his report?

Evening Gill ...made me think (after hearing this) the different stories R&F are being told (as 'fact' of course!).

Hi MC! - The only real facts available at the moment are that she is dead and that she didn't accept a blood transfusion. Her family also turned down the opportunity to give her the blood. It's unlikely that she died 3 days later of a haemorrage as this tends to happen in the first 24 hours. But bleeding out must have been the problem or her husband would not have been complaining about the Cell Saver machine not being used.

Anything else is just wait and see now!

Exactly Gill...widower is supposedly suing over not using blood recovery machine (non-starter methinks). She clearly died from lack of blood, but for some reason local dubs are convinced they're in possession of information unbeknownst to everyone else (that she died from heart attack)...you know how it is...THIS is fact, and everything else can be dismissed
