Sassy, it's so good to see you posting here again. You're a very sweet and kind person. I hope we'll see you a lot more. Andy's parents are going with him tomorrow. His mother is going to make sure they don't railroad him.

Andy is still far from 100 %. He went with the kids and me to the healing eucharist at St. Mark's and it completely wore him out. My air conditioning in my car needs charging and barely cools. He got over heated. We all did really. We stopped by the store to pick up salad fixin's and he told me, "You have to get me home. I can't stand up anymore." He's in the bedroom, relaxing with the central air. He can only handle so much each day before he gives out and shuts down. His arm wound is looking better. The nurse still comes to check on it, clean it and dress it every three days. She takes his vitals and makes sure he is coherent, etc.

We used to go every Tuesday for the service and it drew us so close together and helped us in a spiritual way. I never felt anything remotely spiritual about the Kingdom Hall or the conventions.

I'll let you know how his visit and his meeting with the social workers goes tomorrow.

Again, thank you all for your ongoing, love, encouragement, gifts (you can never know how much you have helped and the peace of mind you've given, the ways in which those gifts help each day) prayers, good vibes, etc. Things are stil in flux and I feel the fear most in the moments between sleep and wakefulness in the mornings. At least I am not spending each day in agony. The anxiety is there, but less severe and less often. Hugs to everyone.

Yes, the USA is a good country in many ways, but when it comes to greed in the medical and pharmacological industries, it's criminal in its nature.

Yep, you got that right. You may want to try ordering the meds from an online Canadian pharmacy. Don't let those bozos in Washington scare you: our drugs are just as thoroughly tested and monitored as those in the States, but at a fraction of the cost. Officially, they're not supposed to do this, but they realize that our American cousins south of the border are getting ripped off to no end when it comes to meds, and they'll help.

Mary, if that becomes necessary, how does a person do it?

Just check Costco first, many times they are cheaper than the Canadian pharmacy.

    You have a PM.

You may want to contact juni, as I believe she's done it but here's a site you can start with: http://www.doctorsolve.com/ Check under "Frequently asked questions". Looks like there's no problem in getting them sent to the States.

My heart failed me, and I couldn't bear to open your thread until now.

It's a nightmare winding your way through several levels of bureacracy. I'm an expert at it now. Here's a few things to help:

    • Bring a book or crossword puzzle for the waiting rooms and lineups. Don't let them waste your mind as they waste your time. Besides, having something to do gives me a sense of control in an uncontrollable situation.
    • When you get turned down and you sense it might be due to idiocy, oversight, or missing facts, don't waste your breath arguing with the rejector. Ask firmly and politely to speak to the supervisor. In large bureaucracies, the front line workers have no authority. Only supervisors are allowed to use their judgement and override the stupid rules.
    • Sometimes your competence can be your own worst enemy. Case workers may assume there are others who need it worse than you. Judicious tears at the right moment may convince them you are closer to the edge than they think.
    • Thank the front-line workers who go above and beyond. Let them know how their kindnesses affected you. Write down their name and send a thank-you note to their supervisor.

If you need specific tips, let me know.

Walmart also is advertising a new, low-cost prescription program. Not all medications are on the list but it may be worth checking in to.

Andy is home now. He says he just wants to relax. He has to finish his medicaid paper work, again, and he will do that tomorrow morning because he needs a break from it. Then he will send it in. It will take up to 45 days. He did get some samples of two of the drugs and we will need to fill one. Andy did remember to have them call it into Costco. PEC, I gave him your gentle hug.

I will check into the Wal-mart thing, Bisous. Thank you. Mary, we shall also research the Canadian angle more.

Jgnat, thank you for the good advice. Thank all of you for caring so much. Hopefully we are going to come out of this without anymore major losses and changes such as losing our home or sending kids to live elsewhere.

Since I didn't personally have to leave the house for obligations today, I have taken it a little easier and feel a little bit of rejuvination. I actually watched TV and stayed in my nightshirt this morning. I can't tell you how much I appreciate just being able to relax a bit and laugh at reruns like Roseanne and Will and Grace. I have so many responsibilities and matters that need my attention looming over me constantly. It has been nice not to think about them too much this morning.

Julian's trauma therapist has moved his appointment to Friday, so tomorrow I won't be doing appointments either. How nice. I do need to get to the grocery store and buy paper products and cleaners and that necessary stuff needed to run a household. All of those haven't been such a big priority this month. I usually stay stocked up so well on such things as TP that I haven't run out until now.

Take care and let me say thank you again to all of you from all of us.

I had been a little afraid to check the latest progress on this situation. I am so glad to see that your latest post is positive. Amen.

You know the number should you need it. Tell Andy a whole bunch of us are pulling for both of you and the kids too.

    Jeff
