I hope you are all OK.

We are. This is just a lot of change. Andy is out of the hospital again. Everyday is a mystery of how things will go. I had a real hard time yesterday and early this morning with worry over everything, but am okay now.

Andy won't be working anytime soon. The doctors have disabled him. So the social workers have him started into the process for disability or SSI and perhaps Michigan's state disability. I am pretty sure he is going to have medicaid to pay for all his ongoing medical bills and medications, home nurse and so on. We will need it if we are going to stay afloat. And it's good that I have this leave from work, so that I can take care of the boys and him. I just have to be able to take care of me, so that I don't burn out worse than I already am.

I gotta get goin'. I have to take him to Holland to pick up his medications, etc. I'll try to check in again soon.

(((FHN))) I'm so sorry to hear about Andy. Sounds like the necessary things are working out.... but you are right. You have to keep yourself healthy emotionally also. Take time for you. Words are cheap I know......just be sure to accept peoples' offers to give you some "free" time.

    I'll keep in touch.

    Love, Juni

Picking up the meds for Andy today was a fiasco that had us going from pharmacy, to calling the crisis intervention hotline, to the hospital emergency room for hours, back to the pharmacy, back the hospital, then to the Robert B Center and then ultimately, back to the pharmacy, just in the nick of time, only to purchase enough for two days because they were going to cost $200. We are going to the health department on Monday to try to get samples and then over to DHS to see what the hold up on the medicaid is. I could not bear to see Andy go until Monday without his Rx's. He's in enough pain and under enough stress as it is. I don't understand how our country allowed the hospitals and drug companies to become so greedy. Just one of the meds cost $17.99 for two pills and the pharmacist gave them to us at cost.

By the time we got home, Andy was exhausted, stressed, filled with anxiety and very blue. He had been cheerful this morning. I felt so sad for him. He asked me if I could please take him to the park tomorrow. He said he is so blue because he can't drive and his car is totaled. I am not sure when he'll be able to drive again. I don't think he should for at least a few more weeks, even months. I know it's hard for him to be totally dependent on others for rides. I've been there and done that.

I hope that Andy will have a better day tomorrow. I hope we all will. At least he has his medications for tomorrow. That's something we can tackle on Monday. I hope you all have a great Sunday.

FHN! Go to COSTCO. You don't have to be a member to use their pharmacy, and I found out that it is TRUE that they really have the lowest prices of all!!! Drastically lower, I must add. Until the gov't stuff gets sorted out, please check them out!

Sorry that it was such a merry-go-round today. At least you succeeded!! And you didn't have to worry about work or finding childcare.

    HUGS !

Bebu, I called Costco at 20 til 6 and found out their pharmacy closes at 6 on Saturday and doen't open tomorrow and the closest one was in Wyoming, too far to get to in 20 minutes. If he has to buy anymore, that's where we'll go. Thanks to all of you here, I am not completely broke and could afford to get his two days worth. I hope he can get samples on Monday and then more when he sees his doc on Wednesday. Doc better have some samples. If not, it's going to be costly, even at Costco.

    Dear FHN,

Another step forward for you and Andy, but at such great cost! Literally and figuratively. Re: the same situation among friends and family, the state we are in - California - pays the caregiver quite a monthly stipend. Of course, there are variables, such as the degree of disability and whether or not it's a permanent circumstance.
It looks as if the works are in motion for you, but it takes lots of time and patience - the slow wheels of bureaucracy. Whatever one calls it - Providence, Jehovah/the Lord provides, serendipity, karma - we ARE cared for. Despite what we've been through in the Organization, I never have doubted for a moment His direction and care. Gee, God really isn't controlled by the WT!

    Love and peace,

    CoCo

    FHN....

If Andy doesn't have health insurance and I don't think Medicaid counts, pharmaceutical companies give huge discounts if you send in your information and they will send a discount card to use at pharmacies. I have one and saved quite a bit. There is nothing to purchase, no cost and/or limit.

Call 1-800-444-4106 or visit www.TogetherRXAccess.com. (25 to 40% savings on brand-name prescriptions plus thousands of generic drugs)

Thank you, Restrangled. That's a resource I will check into tomorrow.

Andy was so exhausted by his ordeal yesterday that he just stayed in the house today. His home health nurse is coming tomorrow to check his wounds and dress them. I will call the health center about his meds. I don't want to drive all the way over there if they can't help Andy.

Church was good this morning. It was sunny and bright here. I kind of like an overcast or drizzly day here and there and would have welcomed that today.

The boys enjoyed church and then played outside under the sprinklers with the neighbor children. I put sun screen on them and let them head out in their bathing suits. They played out for hours. Everyone's in bed but me. I really need to go relax. I will have so much to do this week. The house needs some cleaning, too.

Well, the health dept. will give him samples to last until his doc visit on Wednesday. I will refill the one they can't give him samples for. It will be a dollar a pill for the generic. We are hoping the doc can give him samples to last until he can get into a program to pay for it. I realized today that the $200 was for only a few days worth, not even an entire month. Yes, the USA is a good country in many ways, but when it comes to greed in the medical and pharmacological industries, it's criminal in its nature.
