How do you know your done are you sides kinda crispy and brown?

You know you are "done" when what you've done is no longer in the doing of it.

How many pickeled peppers did Peter Piper pick?

Recent investigations by the Food and Drug Administration using undercover cameras revealed the report about Mr.Piper has been grossly exaggerated.

For one thing, surveillance photos show for a fact that the pickling process takes place AFTER the peppers are picked!

Tens of thousands of nursery rhyme books are being recalled as we speak.

Although his theory about an invisible Jesus was wrong in the late 1870's, and even though his theory that the end of all nations would arrive in 1914 was fatally flawed, since 1914 was actually the year WW1 started, does CT Russell deserve any credit for chosing 1914 at the very least as the start of WW1, 30 some odd yrs in advance, perhaps, in as much as "the wrong thing happened at the right time" ?

An excellent question, m'lad! What we can reduce this sort of question down to is this: IF ANYTHING HAPPENS in a year does it count if it is not the very thing predicted in advance? C.T.Russell named 1914 as THE END and not the beginning of the end! Religion and governments were predicted to END. They did not! What happened was that a war in Europe began. How this can be viewed as any form of prophetic fulfillment depends on how desperate you are to save the reputation of the "prophet" predicting events which DID NOT transpire. When William Miller predicted that 1843 was THE END (Jesus' 2nd Advent) he was wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong! This is called the GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT. However, people who had believed Miller's "proofs" did not want to be seen as fools! They looked for a way to still be right in the face of 100% disconfirmation. The date was moved forward. That date was wrong too! Miller himself finally apologised. Privately he kept expecting the end. The Millerites fragmented into various groups according to WHICH STORY appealed to the various persons who would not care to admit they were fools! The Seventh Day Adventists directly decend from one of the larger groups. Jehovah's Witnesses do too. People who cannot admit they are wrong will grasp at anything to save their ego from destruction!

I suppose, as games go, the bigger the game the better.

Think how small life becomes without an enormous fantasy about Supreme Being, afterlife, absolute Truth, etc.

The game shrinks when the Bible (source of fantasy and standard of proof) deflates to the size of man-made amalgam.

I see people jumping left and right into mysticism, superstition, hardcore evangelicism, apocalypticism--you name it. They crave another HUGE game with fantasy constructs to titillate them out of their day to day, mundane preoccupations with gas-prices, the Presidential candidates and the yawning grave at the end of it all.

It becomes that non-liberating moment you know for sure there ain't no Santa!

Shouldn't that be "taken to task"?
