Dear ALL,

I had my bone marrow taken today and it went like a breeze. A nurse performed the procedure instead of my haematologist and she was brilliant. The best yet!!

The thing is, not long after the curry I'll have to undergo treatment again. I'm absolutely fine now - you wouldn't even know I had a problem - but the fact is we can't hang around. So, this could be the last time I see many of you for a while and so I'd appreciate it if you could all come to the curry. I know there's always the possibility of someone having to drop out at the last moment - it happens - but if you CAN make it Claire and I would be delighted to see you.

The deposit is now paid and the staff are awaiting your arrival

I have pmed you seperately, but I am definitely still coming, also hopefully bringing a significant other, and I also hopefully taking Crumpets Travelodge room! All coming together.

As to payment, we're happy to do the whole divide the meals by people thing and buy seperate drinks, otherwise it's a logistical nightmare!

Hope the treatment continues to go well. You know how sorry I am that I can't be there. Had my op on Tuesday and now convalescing at home and hobbling around on crutches.

I have been trying since 3rd week of September - about 3 weeks - to get in touch with Material Boy and sadly no reply. I just thought if you had another way of contacting him you may be able to find out if he and his party still plan to go. I have had to let the room go but it means PoppyR can enjoy herself properly now!

Hi Nina,

I'm relieved to hear your operation went well and that you are now convalescing. Who's looking after you? Are you coping ok?

I haven't heard from Material Boy or Pauline, either, and have no way of contacting them.

You did the right thing in letting the room go to PoppyR. You couldn't hang around much longer.

I've noticed how autumnal the mornings are now and of how the nights are drawing in. Good weather for a hot curry, I'd say!

I'm truly sorry you can't make it but I know plans are in the offing for further meetups, so Claire and I will see you then.

Whatever way "The great crowd of 45" suggests is ok with me and Pauline. It would appear that the easiest way might be to divide the total amount, including tips, by the number of people present. If we then all put our portion in cash into the kitty, that should cover it. But this unfortunatelty, means that everyone needs to bring cash. If others want to pay by chq or card, then their amounts could be taken away from the total. Don't forget to bring your calculator.

Thanks for paying the £100 deposit and for all of the arrangements that you have made. We are looking forward to meeting up with you all.

Thanks Dansk! I am looking after myself mainly but I've had two previous occassions to practise so I am old hat at it. Trying to see how long I can go without painkillers today - done 9 hours so far, but havent moved far from my sofa bed so its cheating really.

(Credit due to Mr C who has been cooking me dinner every night though and making trips to the pharmacy for replenishments and new dressings as its kind of yucky to look at !!!)

Are you back with Mr. C or is he just helping out?

Regarding payment for the meal on the night (doesn't anyone coming to the curry ever read these posts? Only a few have mentioned their prefered payment method so I'll assume you all agree with lumping the meal bill together!).

What I suggest is that we all put in one 46th (or whatever the total number is on the night) of the total of the food bill, including Claire and I (i.e. Claire and I will pay for our meal on the night, too). Then, Claire and I will subtract the deposit we've paid and what's left will be the correct amount owed.

I've spoken to the head waiter and he says he can do a separate drinks bill. Most meals are virtually the same in price so I really feel having a combined total and then dividing it by us all IS the best and SIMPLEST method. Yes, everyone bringing some cash would be beneficial in this matter. But, we have a week to get our monies together
