Yes, darth, this is to replace the meetup. I think we were waiting to see if this was ok with Jourles unless Out has heard from him.

It's not my call on who can come and who cannot. Everyone is invited - right, center, left, democrat, republican, anti-american, anti-canadian, etc. etc. The only requisite is that you are slightly leaning in the anti-jw camp or else it may not be that fun for you. Just remember, this isn't MY fest, it's for everyone. I merely came up with the date and location.

Petty, long time no hear! Hopefully the weather is good for that day, but if it gets severe, thanks for the offer. We might take you up on it(you're not that far away at all - Brighton, right?).

Kensington is pretty darn big and there shouldn't be a lack of picnic space. I also seem to remember there being some large fields where we could play catch, frisbee, etc. No worries there.

I'm so looking forward to it!

Oh, so who do we have for sure that are planning on attending? Even the maybes? A head count will help on the food/beverage stuff. Also, does anyone have any allergies or adverse reactions to certain kinds of foods? I would like for everyone to enjoy the outing.

Is this going to be "kid-friendly" if so, I might be able to make it with Mrs. Kwin and our two little ones, otherwise, I might be able to make it just by myself. If we can find a sitter for the weekend, Mrs. Kwin might be able to come too. I'm only about 3 1/2 hours from Detroit.

Well, I sure as hell hope it's kid friendly 'cause mine are coming.

Oh and hubby is bringing a football (if it all works out) and is hoping Someone will be interested in some form of sporting activity.

(thx Jourles for setting this up. We needed it!! )

On my end there's 4 (thus far).

Yes, this will be child-friendly. Please don't plan on coming and severely boozing it up(there will be alcoholic beverages present). Not only do we want to have fun enjoying each others company, but we also want folks to be able to drive away without getting pulled over. If some people would like to continue the fest afterwards, I'm sure a few would be up for it.

Hi (((Jourles))) - yep, haven't been around to much at all. And yes, Tim & I are right in Brighton, and we have plenty of room (as long as there's less than 50 or so......plus we're TOTALLY child friendly w/pool, swing set, video games etc. Also, there's a Best Western 2 minutes away from our place, which I've *heard* is comfortable enough.

I'm bringing my 10 y.o., and my child 36 y.o. dh - so it better be "child friendly"

Last point regarding Kensington - It's HUGE - ALOT (at least 30 or so) different "picnic area's" (and the Metro beach in dh & my opinion is NASTY). I'm thinking the Mill Pond or Island Lake (within 1/4 mile of Kensington is a better place for people who've never seen each other to find each other. The area is smaller, there's Island Lake and the Mill pond is actually an old quarry, so the water is DEEP and cleaner. Just a thought.

Also, once we have a good head count, I'm thinking that we should have arrangements for after the picnic, for those that are coming & staying at hotel accommodations, etc. What say you?

    Petty,

I was planning on getting there early and staking out a spot. Once found, I was going to put up flyers at the entrances telling where we were gonna be. You get a map of the place when you enter. A few of us could always post our pics again so that the newcomers could recognize us.

If I may suggest J, the spot labeled maple beech is nice and the boat rental place is in reasonable walking distance from it. My wife and I are coming for sure and another friend of mine is a maybe. Part of me would like to tell some others I know, but there not ready for the blue pill.
