On April 26 , 2004 , the Buena Vista Township Committee voted to temporarily rename the community of Richland, a section of Buena Vista Township. For the first half of the month of May, Richland became Mojito, New Jersey , named after the Cuban rum drink . Bacardi had offered to give the township $5,000 for recreation projects in exchange for a sign placed on U.S. Route 40 commemorating the new name. Richland was chosen because it is home to the family-run Dalponte Farms, a major east coast supplier of mint , an essential ingredient of the mojito .
Gotta love the people of my native state! lol
Jourles -- I don't have any extra chairs, either. And no cooler other than a little six pack holder-type thingy. (Can we tell I am NOT a camper?) But I could help with beverages, and I'll soon figure out what I'm bringing in the way of a dish to pass. I'll make something, but I think I'll bring along some Kowalski coleslaw as well. I had some recently and it was very good. Should there be sauerkraut for the brats? Or are Blondie and Irreverent taking care of that -- being from Wisconsin and all?

How about as long as we have a list of names of people coming, would it also be possible for those same people to list what items/food/drinks they will bring too? This way we don't have 8 people bringing tater salads. If you have a specialty or a recipe that has been tightly guarded and has been handed down over the generations, that would be perfect!
Brenda - like I mentioned, I have two large coolers I can bring. That should be enough to cover the items that will need to be on ice. Heck, if someone has a bigass bucket or barrel, that would be nice to have for drinks as well. In fact I just had a thought. We could use one of those large plastic tubs that you would use to store things in. I think Target has them for around $5-7. They're huge - 5ft x 2ft x 2 ft. One of those would work fine - and I have a few of them at home.
So far, here's my list:
- Brats
- Buns for brats
- Condiments for brats (ketchup, mouseturds, onions, and I'll bring the kraut too)
- Various sodas
- Mojitos
- 2 camping style chairs
- Charcoal for grill(s)
- Frisbee, Football, water balloons?(bring yer swimsuits and a towel)
- Stage, waterhose, dj booth with microphone, and 1st place ribbons for the wet t-shirt contest

The Art Fair ends on Saturday afternoon but the town is still a nice place to visit or have dinner. I can see if there are any activities going on. What if we all crashed the wt study; nah...

Ok here's where it's at for us right now:
My husband is having a rough time getting any time off at the moment. They're short on guys and many of them had already put in for time off. These are the possibilities:
a) If he has to work, I am going to scramble for a babysitter because after a good conversation, we realized that our oldest would probably make it quite difficult to enjoy anything. This would be because 1) she really is not an outdoorsy sort of kid 2) though she's 6, she's cognitively around 3 and that's just an average 3) she has a lower tolerance for events that are noisy, crowded and in essence busy, even if she is outside. If anyone has any questions about her just ask. So anyhoo, I know Outnfree has offered to help me with the kids and I might have to count on this, because.....
b) If I can't get a babysitter, I'm bringing the kids, but I just don't know how it's going to work so it might turn out that I'll be there for like a half hour before finally throwing in the towel and leaving. The thing is that both kids are fairly shy with strangers and when people that they don't know try to help out, it could go either way. Still, I AM coming with the kids if I have to and I AM coming with food, Brenda I'll call you and let you know how it's going.
c) Hubby could get time off (keeping fingers crossed) and we'll wait and see that day how things are going with kids, if it goes good we'll all come if it's one of them days, I'm coming and would probably be able to stay longer than if option b were applicable.
(still with me?)
d) On a side note: We're also right smack in the middle of trying to get our online business up and running and our web guy is heading out to USC in the fall and will be leaving the middle of August. If we're cramming to get s*** done and I need to work that day (if he has the day off) I am still coming but don't know how long I'll be there.
With all that said:
Here is what I am bringing: baked beans and I have an idea that I think a sheet cake would be cool. You know a big fat cake that says APOSTAFEST 2006 Michigan on it (wouldn't it be great if the cook were a jw?)
Also, has anyone given any thought to pop, chips and stuff like that?
Because I'm thinking I can also bring that sort of stuff, if anyone has preferences let me know. Otherwise is it a matter of people bring what they want to drink? (Sorry but drinkin' during the day is not something for me) Also, Jourles, what about plates, silverware, napkins etc etc?
And Blondie mentioned name tags, don't know if she was serious or not, but it might be a good idea.
WHEW! Long butt post..Thanks for hangin' in there and listening.
