Jw's and funerals
by One true Jesus Freak ini have a thoughtful question.
when a jw dies and there is a funeral or memorial for them, just how much of that person is 'remembered" or talked about?
do they just have a funeral service for them, or do they turn the memorial into a wt study?

Do you think JWs actually care if they convert people or not?
by LouBelle inthe reason i ask this is because when i was on the field way back in the day - i really couldn't be bothered if the householder was interested or not.
if they took literature and paid for it (we asked a certain price for literature before it all became on a donation basis) it was a bonus, plus meant money for a cooldrink / tea & cake afterwards.. actually i would prefer it if they weren't interested so i could get away from the door - sometimes their ""conversation stoppers"" made too much sense and i couldn't answer back.. that meant i didn't convert anybody.
do you think most of the jws' are like that today?

When I pioneeed I can honestly say that I hated field service and conducting bible studies. I tried to not let it show. But I figured I'd made a dedication to God so I should do the best I could but the conformity in the way you study and what you study didn't sit well with me. It felt wrong. How can I explain it,... I cared about people but not for the WT forced indoctrination. They always seemed heavy handed and lacking in genuine love. You will do as we say otherwise you will be punished.
Then I began to see the lies and deciet of the WT and I realized I was being manipulated by them. Talk about loading people down with heavy burdens...
(One of my studies did get baptized...oops, sorry.)

It's always about the money. Always has been, always will be. The watchtower has more in common with Scrooge than Christ.
Whatever happened to the "Bethel Family" concept? Oh yes, that's just their feel good - look good slogan.
Once you are inside and the door slams shut watch out, you are just another piece of machinery to be used until worn out or no longer needed.

The facts speak for themselves:
Few do, most don't (Care enough to put real effort into FS)
A fraction will, The majority won't (Try to convert others)
If Field service became a conscience matter who would still go out? 5% 10%...

Being drunk or high on canabis may explain the utter rubbish that he penned. I can just see him and his buddy Freddy Franze knocking back the booze and rolling their dope as they prepare to scribble the next isue of the Watchrag. Now it all makes sense.

This is how it works...
Torture the Bible and it will confess to anything...and you know the Faithful Slave is really the Twisted Inquisitor.
Can you believe that the dumb scriptures fessed up to Millions now living etc. etc.
Paradise on earth, no problem, Pile on more weights, turn the screws tighter, yank out a few more verses. Almost there.. Insert stupid logic where the sun don't shine...
Bingo! there you have it, New Light.....oooohhhh

Had a visit last Saturday from an elder....
by gymbob inhe said he was just checking addresses because my house was on the "do not call" list, and he was checking to see if the same people lived here or had moved away.
so i told him that nobody that lives in this house has asked jw's not to call, and that it was probably at the request of my ex-wife who knows i don't attend anymore.. so he gives me that ookaaayy look..... i'm out working in the yard and so we sit down in the garage to have a chat..... he doesn't know me, but i remember him from a different cong., and he doesn't know i da'd myself over 5 years ago.
he also doesn't know how much i've learned and how long i've been waiting for this day!.

Nice one,
You do realize that they want you on the "do not call" list so that other feeble minded JW's won't speak to you and actually wake up from their stupor and start to think for themselves.

Sounds more like a magazine peddler than a preacher of the good news, of course having a bible discussion would take away too much time from sales, and its tough to follow up a bible chat by asking for a donation. Maybe afraid some would donate a size 13 up his wazoo.

Welcome,
Fundamentally, the big wags at the top are a bunch of uneducated drivel dispensing control freaks.
The more a person is educated and learns to think and reason, the more you will see the Watchtower message, lifestyle and values are like a broken pencil - Pointless.
Of course this will not do, so they throw in the devil, who of course is prowling every campus and all kinds of other nasty stuff to keep the WT surfs in superstitious fear and ignorance.

So let's see...Jesus throws satan to the earth, where satan then does all kinds of rotten stuff to the unsuspecting people who were just minding there own business..Hmm Sounds a bit lke throwing a rabid badger into a classroom full of 5 year olds...
If this really is the case (sounds loony to me) then wouldn't JESUS take a big part of the blame for the world going into the toilet?
Hold on... I've just checked out life before 1914 and it doesn't look all that great either. Mongul pilagers sweeping across Asia and Europe, the fall of Rome, the black death, inquisition, life expectancy of 35, 50% infant mortality, slavery, no votes or property rights for women, children in coal mines...
We still have a way to go, but on balance I think I'll stick with the 21st century thank you.
