Excellent questions, well thought out. If you examine the witness teachings in depth you'll discover these few questions are just the tip of the iceburg. The more you look the more absurdities and hypocracy you'll find. Why is one part of Revelation taken literally and another is symbolic? You may find yourself asking why witnesses are discouraged from reasoning as you do, why is it wrong to speak up and speak out if you don't agree or understand? And by the way, if you're a woman doing this it's really bad.

Please help...lots of questions
by KanoasDestiny inquite a few of my family members are jw's, and i attended the meetings until i was 7 years old when my mom was disfellowhipped.
i have always had an interest in god but i truly don't know where i feel i belong church-wise.
i agree mostly with the jw, but there are still things that i don't agree with, and to attend the kingdom hall, knowing that i don't agree with them 100% feels wrong.

Feb 15, 2007 WT Article: Women: Obey Your Hubbies!!
by Mary inpage 18 is the pathetic craptower article, telling women (who have apparently gotten above themselves) that they must be "obedient" to their husbands.
the entire article is nauseating, and obviously written by bitter old men who have major issues with the opposite sex.
i'm not going to write the whole thing, but here's a few 'highlights':.

Maybe the Borg will outlaw contraception to give all the humble and submissive sisters a fuller role in swelling the ranks. Wasn't it Rutherford who described women as a "hank of hair and a bag of bones"?

Why A God Of Love Will Destroy Unbeleivers! Faith
by frankiespeakin ina)because unbeleif is the worst sin anyone could commit.. b)unbelief is a reflection of a bad heart condition.. c)clearly unbeleif is a willful rejection of god's creatorship, because the evidence abounds as to his existence.. d)the fool has said in his heart,"there is no jehovah.
" and the god of love hates fools.. e)it is all just a clever mind control indoctrinating idea that has kept billions in slavery, making them fearful of ever loosing faith, and thus making it possible for christianity to survive longer than other myths..

I, agree more BS to keep people in servitude. If God is a god of love wouldn' t he get rid of the root cause of evil first (the devil) before destroying the end result, imperfect people. This whole idea of a universal court case is something dreamed up by Rutherford based on the ramblings of an old man who had visions that should not be taken literally. What abuout the vast majority of mankind, all the kids and good folks now and in the past that have never been exposed to the witness clap-trap, seems to me that God is very biased as far as who gets to hear what.

If and when the elders find out they WILL take action. If you are disfellowshipped or they announce that youn are no longer a witness (disassociaton) the end result will be the same. Be prepared.

CHANGE IN RESURRECTION DOCTRINE?
by Mary inok, this is from the january 1, 2007 craptower.
page 25 is the study article called "the first resurrection---now under way".
it's too boring to type all the stupidity written, but here's a brief synopsis of where they come up with the brainiac idea that the first resurrection occurred in 1918 onwards:.

I'd like to see some specific answers from the WY (Fat chance)...
How do those said to be in heaven communicate with those on earth?
Who exactly receives the "message"?
What form does the communication take? (Voice, dream, moving curtains, etc)
How do they know this is the real thing? After all look at all the communication and flashes of "light" Rutherford received, and where are they today? Mostly in the toilet.

So anyone you meet in a chat room is not really worthy of friendship because they disregard WT warnings...but so do you by being there too. Might as well lock yourself in a dark closet.

kn37 - 50 bible studies
by Zico inat the service meeting tonight the service overseer announced that the british bethel had received 50 requests for bible studies since the campaign.
this surprised me, though i suppose it's not really a huge amount, i wouldn't have expected that many.
also, our cong has run out of tracts, and we're only half way through the campaign, with lots of territory still to cover.

50 study requests out of a population of 50 million +...sounds like a 1 in a million ratio to me, and how many will go as far as baptism?

Pink slips at Bethel
by beavis indoes anyone still have any friends at bethel?
it seems that there is a massive layoff at bethel in all three american complexes.
the layoff is supposed to affect everyone between the ages of 35-50 or maybe 60. i feel sorry for persons who chose to stay there, they gave up going to college, possible job offers or making a decent amount of money, having children, the list can go on and on.

Just another brick in the Watchtower wall...knock em down, kick em out. Be loyal to the organization but don't expect the same in return.

Dan Sydlik dies, the last of the moderating forces.
by SadElder inour good friend dan sydlik died today about 2 pm eastern time.
he was the last of the moderating forces on the gb.
lately he has had little influence among the ted (aka the boss) jaracz (head of the bethel cia - the service department) henchmen and loyalists.

The Pope dies, Sydlik dies, the lady across the hall dies...so what? He was part (and a big part) of a corrupt organization that's done so much damage to so many people for so long. His, in my opinion was a wasted life.

Allow me to introduce myself
by TwoBlackBelts ini am not a jw.
i have never been a jw.
i tripped over this forum whilst participating in a little harmless internet forum raiding.. i am a 48 year old man with a wealth of life experience who married a much younger woman who had been raised in a formerly devout but now mostly non-meeting attending jw family.. i have a couple of tertiary degrees in engineering and some undergraduate credits in psychology.
