okay, just to re-introduce myself, i was raised in the truth, regular pioneered for years, and am a member in good standing with my congregation.
i have just recently been shocked to realise that i actually have some doubts about the truth.
it helps for me to focus on one point at a time, and to write down my thoughts in a logical sequence.

i was wondering about this the other day before i went to sleep, out of habit and my spiritual beliefs now, i spoke to the spiritual realm above and asked for guidance and protection.. i remember my journey of leaving the jw "borg" (a new term i have picked up here - i like it!
) and at first i refused to pray at all, and then i wasn't sure i wanted to or not, and then i developed my own sense of the higher power above and spirituality and every night before i sleep, i feel blessed to have another day of life, to do it all again.
even on days when i am not having such a good day, i take time to ask the higher realm for strength and direction.
I do still pray.
But I think it's at a higher "consciousness" than before.
I mean, as a dub I used to pray at ever meal.
But really, how meaningful does that become.
It was more out of "rote."

I too think those stories help.
They helped me, because as ex-Witnesses it's VERY HARD for us to not be emotially attached.
But when we as Dubs look at the Mormon hiarchy, it's so simple. "Why Mr. Mormon are you worrying? It's so easy to tell that there is something not right."
But they have the same Mental Blocks as us.

we all know how every congregation has that elders wife who takes it upon herself to be the hall's resident doctor quinn: medicine woman.
they are constantly pushing herbal supplements and natural medicines at the very least, and at times even getting a little "spiritistic" with some of the crazier quack devices out there.
do i think they're stupid?
A friend of mine said that in the WT, like almost all decisions are made for the rank and file. So on the few things that they are allowed "personal choice" on - they go crazy.

in the early 90's, all the rage was the pre wt study.. basically, the young witnesses would get together on friday nights to underline their watchtower together.. then afterwards we'd hangout or whatever.. it used to drive me crazy because if you wanted to hang out, basically you would have to sit through another meeting.. granted it was informal, but it was the same dang thing you were going to do again on sunday.. the young ones still doing this today?.

For me... they were good at first.
But then it would turn out to be a MS "who's shlong is longer" contest.
Basically, it became a competition on who whould become the Pre-WT Underliner Conductor.
The Highest Ranking person in the room would conduct and it just became nuts after a while.

And the head elder was critical of it. And I'm sure the Borg too.
And then there were "JW Roller Rink Nights."
They too was critical of that.
