Elder Appointments

doing some research as to what qualifications someone needs to meet to become an elder, i came up with one conclusion: it's who you know and is very subjective.. funny thing is too, if you searc the wt online library there are not recent articles that describe and outline the requirements.

which makes me think that there were too many requirements and as we all know, it is based now on how close you are with the current co and not necessarily on being a model jw in the congo.

so the borg decided to leave it up all to the co and not tell the rest what to look for on these appointed men.. you could do your hours, be early to the meetings, be prepared, keep your car and house clean, family in good reputation, etc but if you are in the circle then you can forget it.

#1 BROWN nose the right people (not always)

#2 Make other elders in your hall look good! Brag on how well they help you reach out, etc!!!!!!!

#3 Look good on paper!

#4 BE SEEN OUT IN FS, AND TAKING THE LEAD IN DOING SO! (some how)

#5 Be ready to throw any thing you want to do away, the minute, they want you to do some thing no matter what! (would you run pick up they gum wraper I saw in the parking lot) <---- heard an elder telling a young MS that once! He had walked right past it on the way in, empty handed!!!

Bicyclists

i'm wondering what sort of biking shoes and pedals you are using.

i'm a road biker, so i enjoy speed and distance riding, and am upgrading my shoes and pedals.

anyone have experience with specialized road shoes with the boa stem?

You would never know from looking at me today, but I got to ride in a couple of road racing events with Greg LeMond, back in his hay days, between his first two Tour DeFranc wins. He was a great guy! I so wish I had known TTATT back then! I would have never been a great rider, but I loved the sport! It was a hell of a good time!

i think these boards are great!

it gives us the opportunity to express our feelings, our viewpoints, our concerns, etc.

when we were jws we could not freely do any of that.

Double-life, sounds like a prison sentence....or maybe not?

question: do you think the "double-lifers" have the best of both worlds?.

just asking, because i have wondered, if i had an outlet to express my utter.

disgust and general dissatisfaction with wt teachings and cong-life while i. was still in, ie on forums etc, maybe i would never have left.. just a thought, anyone else have any?.

do jws even read and absorb mathew ch 5 and 6 ?

i mean its says right in there not to pray in public, or babble on, how many 10 minuet long babbling prayers have you endured ??.

where in the bible does it tell us anyone prayed for a large group of people publicly, or even in front of the family at their homes?.

it says in vs 14 to be forgiving, how can disfellowshipping someone be forgiving?

Instead, they will pull a small bit out of a story, and build it into a major teaching and internal government or gb, as they call it.

There are so many things like that, they do, and support with a snippet here and one there!

I tripped into a JW literature cart

anyway, i stopped and chatted with the people for a bit.

three women and a man -- an elder and his wife.

I would NEVER be rude to any of them! It would only make them dig in deeper, and say, Wow you can sure see that person has lost gods holy sprit, and instead, is filled with the satanic sprit!

My mom in law, now has internet service, she can't afford, a tablet she can't understand, a roku player, with just the jw app set up on it!

She is 84 years young!

Feeling sad over a wasted life in watchtower

it's been 12 years since i first read ray franz's books and the scales came off my eyes.

by that time i was in my forties.. since 2002 i went back to school and have worked with 3 very professional organizations.

but my biological clock is ticking away and while my peers are looking forward to retirement, i am only beginning.

I really woke up early last year. 54 years down the drain. I so wish i had woke up so long ago. The sad thing to me is, I am pretty beat up health wise, and still stuck pretending. But I am close to the breaking point in so many ways! And so tired of this game, and the wasted life, that I gave to the borg!
