Need some advice/input for a possible "showdown."
by robhic ini asked my jw girlfriend some questions a while back that she was unable to answer so i gave her cites from wts literature to backup my assertions.
i could see a glimmer of confusion that maybe i had a point.
now she wants me to just have a nice little chat with her good pioneer friend (black lady, very nice in her mid 50's) to ask the questions so that someone more knowlegeable can take a shot at my queries.. so my question is how should i go about this informal little chat?

Need Book Title!
by robhic ininterlinear, (1969 edition, p. 11):
the divine name: one of the remarkable facts, not only about the extant manuscripts of the original greek text, but of many versions, ancient and modern, is the absence of the divine name... [comments about divine name in ot]...as the christian greek scriptures were an inspired addition and supplement to the sacred hebrew scriptures, this sudden disappearance from the greek text seems inconsistent... .
the above reference was given to me to support the fact that the name "jehovah" does not appear in any of the existing greek manuscripts from which the new testament was written.

Armageddon -- truth or fiction?
by robhic ini happened to see something on the history channel the other night and, as i was half-listening, i thought the comments were made that the word/name "armageddon" doesn't actually appear in the bible.
i did a quick search thru my electronic "e-sword" bible program and couldn't find any mention of the name in any versions.
the history channel show said amageddon was a reference to the place where all of the armies are going to meet up to throw down in the final conflict that is called armageddon.

What if satan were to change?
by robhic ini was wondering how this part of the bible can be taken seriously.
for thousand of years, it has been written down that satan will be thrown into the abyss along with his minions.
ok, so how incredibly stupid (is there even a limit?

OK, here's another "Hmmmm" bible-thread
by robhic ingen 3:22
and jehovah god said, behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever- (asv)
ok, putting aside all the trinitarian implications and the contradictory/chronological problems in genesis so as not to cloud the issue, how can this (above) be accurate?.

Reasons for Moving to Wallkill ?
by robhic ini read a while back about selling the brooklyn facility and moving the printing operations to wallkill (???).
i know it's all about money for the wts, but what reasons did they give for actually going through this involved, expensive process when, bottom line, the end is soon and everything is gonna be killed and destroyed?
why not just "wait on jehovah?".

Earthquake Frequency
by robhic ini could swear i read on this particular forum a comment that the wts finally admitted that earthquakes were not more frequent as they have contended for such a long time.
i thought someone mentioned a wt or awake!
in which this statement was made.. i did a search on this forum and another but no luck.

Angels, JW's and Stuff
by robhic inthis is kinda building on another thread from the research and study articles section.
not being a jw (and never intend to be...) i read the thread about the angels not being covered by jesus' ransom sacrifice (it was an "ozziepost").
i think the argument was presented that the angels were not covered so armageddon was a sticky prospect for fallen angels.

Reasons for Intense Feelings?
by robhic ini read the thread that beryblue started above and some of the responses made me wonder.
most people responded regarding loving jehovah out of fear.
i am not now nor ever was a jw but these responses were similar to something a friend said the other day (and other times, too).. she is a jw since 2000 and is 42 years old with a disease that keeps her homebound and quite frequently bed-bound.
