JWs - What Proves That They're a Cult
by Black Man ini think one major point that proves that the jw's are a cult is that you can't leave without being stigmatized.
all you have to do for other religions is take your name of the membership log or just resign.
for jw's you can't leave unless you're df'd or da'd.

Do you regret ever getting baptized
by ikhandi inthousand of witnesses do it every year and for what they believe are good reasons.
i did it because i was pressured by elders.
its interesting to note how elders can target young people into committing their life to something they really know nothing about.

Thousand of witnesses do it every year and for what they believe are good reasons. I did it because I was pressured by elders. Its interesting to note how elders can target young people into committing their life to something they really know nothing about. Parents seeming to throw all caution to the wind sit back and let their children make an adult decison. All of us here at one time stood up before a crowd of other witnesses and answered three questions. How do you feel about breaking your vow to serve god faithfully for the rest of your life?

What do you do with your old liturature?
by Gadget in.
i'm in the middle of decorating my new house, and was a bit stuck as to what to use to mask off the furniture/carpets etc until i spotted an oldv pile of watchtowers that i'd been meaning to throw out.
i now have paint spattered watchtowers all over my living room.. anybody else got any good things to use old liturature for?

Are You Surpised By What You Don't Believe In Anymore?
by minimus in.
jehovah's witnesses must "believe" whatever the watchtower bible & tract society publishes.
now that you aren't forced to accept beliefs that you might not have wholeheartedly endorsed, there must be many different things that you don't accept.....what comes to mind?

I refuse to believe that I am a bad individual and will lose out on my salvation because some feel I have turned my back on jehovah. I have washed my hands of all this guilt I have felt for the last four years.I no longer believe it is wrong to explore other religions or read apostate literature. The wts society is very guilty for using scare tactics

Sad again at the Service Meeting
by Euphemism inthe service meeting on thursday was really saddening, particularly the last part, about preaching with boldness.
it was about overcoming nervousness, shyness, etc in the ministry.. all these people gave their experiences about difficulties they had in the ministry.
a regular pioneer (and elder's wife) admitted that she used to just pretend to ring the door bells; service is still really difficult for her, but she does it just because she feels obligated to.

Interesting experiences from all. I was once told by an elder that even if you did not like participating in the ministry or like putting forth extra oomph it took to get to the meetings, that you should just do it and pray to Jehovah to instill it in your heart that you loved those activites. What a bunch of bull. I for one didn't mind the ministry. Maybe it was that humanitarian spirit that kept me going. I will admit because I was forced to go out in service, it made me really good at public speaking.

How long do you think being a JW will affect you?
by Adam ini haven't been on this board for a while.
i've been on a conservative ezboard trying to see if we can't do something about political issues.
i've also got a new job, had to get the car fixed, been best man in a wedding, and watched the two towers on vhs.

My past of being a jw will never leave me despite some days I wish it would all go away and stop haunting me. My experiences and heartache will stay with me to my death

Hey people, its a pleasure to meet everyone.....
by CETME inhey guys, thought i'd introduce myself...... my name is lars, and i'm 22... i'm majoring in education here in florida........ i was brought up as a jw, but i never really got into it... because the political side was so corrupt.... right now i'm just trying my best to be a good person, for myself and for god..... .
i'm a little rough around the edges... i shoot guns, race cars, ride bmx..... etc... so i guess my lifestyle didnt suit the jw's as well...... .
anyways, i searched around for a picture of myself, but i really dont have any "normal" ones......... .

Turned in my ex best friend into the elders over a sin she committed. It was my first and last time doing that one. She never spoke to me again. I'm still sorry about that one.

Why do members here have a fascination with telling us they're leaving ?
by run dont walk inmaybe i am way out of line with the comments i am about to make, and i may offend some people, this is not my intention ............ but why do members of this board make a big deal that they are leaving the board ???.
i just don't get it, are we all here, like a big circle of friends, would you tell your immediate circle of friends you won't see them anymore because you have no time ???.
you do not have to post everyday or every week here, i take a break sometimes because yeah i don't have the time to post or start a topic, so, but it irks me when people say their life is too busy, or they have others thing to do and will not be posting here anymore.

Since I have been here I have wondered that same question. When I see that statement posted here I am like who cares? Must I know every little detail of your posting life on jwd? I often wonder if people do it just for attention.
