Why do members here have a fascination with telling us they're leaving ?

Maybe I am way out of line with the comments I am about to make, and I may offend some people, this is NOT my intention ...........

but WHY do members of this board make a big deal that they are leaving the board ???

I just don't get it, are we all here, like a big circle of friends, would you tell your immediate circle of friends you won't see them anymore because you have no time ???

you DO NOT have to post everyday or every week here, I take a break sometimes because yeah I don't have the time to post or start a topic, so, but it irks me when people say their life is too busy, or they have others thing to do and WILL NOT be posting here anymore. I find it very insulting !!!!

There is 168 hours in a week, 720 hours in a month, NOBODY'S life is that busy, if you can't take one minute a week OR month to pop in, say hello and make a quick post then good riddance.

I don't post to ebay, or nfl.com or nhl.com or a porno site and say, "well, my life has changed and I can't come here anymore !!!", like it is the dumbest comment I have heard.

Some people have said goodbye to this board 4 or 5 times ??? like WTF! Why do they think we care ??? (i know that's not a nice thing to say), but man this really bugs me. This board has been a huge help to so many, and I view these comments as very disrespectful to the people who run the board and the regular members.

I have been out of the borg for 15 years, I'm over it, I have moved on with life, but all my family is still in, so am I really out ??? I hope one day before I die, that they will see the Watchtower for what it is, but we all share the same problems with JW land that even new ones that are leaving do. It is truly amazing.

I know I have helped a few people here, and ALOT of people have helped me with the history of JW's, publications, contradictions, other websites, beliefs, doctrinal changes etc, like I would of NEVER found all this info by myself, even if I did it would of taken YEARS and YEARS, I have only been on the board 4 months and I have more info then I did the first 14 years I was out.

Hey, if have to take a break, or you're moving, you have no computer for awhile, or returning to school, taken a new job, travelling, that's okay, if you're gone 1 week, 1 month, 1 year, but don't say goodbye I won't be here anymore.

Okay, I'm rambling and venting too much, sorry if I pissed anyone off.

am I out of line ???

am I taking it personally ???

    any comments ???

I must admit that I have wondered that too. Maybe they are being polite and want to say goodbye, or want the last word, if they are pissed off at someone.

    Oh well.

I also wonder why people publicly ask Simon to delete their account.

I mean, think about it. First of all, why ask publicly? An e-mail will work just fine. Secondly, why bother deleting it at all? If they don't want to post, then don't post. Do they have no will power? Even if they don't, it's not like deleting your account will prevent you from posting. It is not difficult to set up a different account.

I agree with your comments. Unless someone has a life changing event, preventing them from posting, and we want to hear about it, then the farewells (sometimes multiple) just clog up the board.

Some tell us their leaving because they want to be convinced not to leave..

Some tell us they are leaving because its like the last step in getting over JWland..

    Some because they need attention

Some because, like family, we like to know what you are up to and hope the favor is reciprocated

lots of reasons...just like the reasons people post here in the first place. You can tell the people who are sincere and those who are going to be back tomorrow...*LOL*

    Sincerely,

I think it's polite for people to mention that they might not be around for a while. Though I must agree it's a bit silly to say that you'll never post again. Lots do and end up regreting it. This board is so addictive!

If I get fed up with issues here, or haven't much time, I just take a break and pop back when I feel the time is right. Sometimes I'll visit many times without posting.

But wouldn't life be boring if we all thought the same!

29 Reasons why you might want to sign off and read a book! 1. A friend calls and says "How are you? Your phones have been busy " -- for a year!!!!! 2. You forgot how to work the TV remote control. 3. You see something funny and scream, "LOL, LOL." 4. You meet the mailman at the curb and swear he said YOU'VE GOT MAIL 5. You sign off and your screen says you were on for 3 days and 45 minutes. 6. You fall asleep, but instead of dreams you get IMs. 7. You buy a laptop and a cell phone so you can have AOL in your car. 8. Tech support calls YOU for help. 9. You beg your friends to get an account so you can "hang out." 10.
