Hi Cofty
I used to go to Hamilton Circuit Assemblies too, but just to cruise the talent as there was none at Leith/Portobello/Musselburgh Assemblies. Have fun on JWD.
hi all, its time i stopped lurking around here.
i've been posting at jws for just over a year, i know a few names here and it looks like there is lots of good banter going on.. i am a second generation, born-in who grew up in west-central scotland.
i pioneered in edinburgh and later married and settled in berwick just south of the border.

open question, please list scriptures that give you that direction or what you base your answer upon.
i know there are so many different viewpoints on this forum, it will be interesting for all to see them and what scriptures or reasoning they are based on.. some examples are,.
do you feel only one needs to have love, faith in jesus, and those basics and that is what you must proclaim.. do you feel true knowledge must be taught to all, and as much as is known.
Sand the woodwork in the bathroom. I'm doing it, I'm dirty and grumpy. But I know silky smooth paintwork will make him very happy.
i distinctly remember the last talk i gave.
it was a talk in the "back" school.
everyone in the room was someone i had known most of my life.
20 years of public speaking and you were still giving talks in the 2nd school?? Wow, you must have been a sh*t hot speaker.
okay, i am in a bit of a dilemma.
since i believe in honesty between marriage mates, i have been telling my wife about this board and my participation on it.
i feel it is only right so that she won't feel like i have anything to hide.
Sounds a little to me like you both know your relationship has had its problems. What she may have the foresight to recognise is that if you continue to come here, while she remains a JW, those hairline cracks will become gulf that leads to separation. I'm not suggesting that you should comply.
even if you don't belive in god?
its somthing that has become a swear phrase rather than an actual prayer.
so was wondering.... is this somthing you say?.
No, I say OMFG.
i was just told by my dad that my name was brought up last night in the elders meeting.. my dad (is or was) an elder, and he told me that the elders are going to be giving me a call.
they have heard rumors that i am an apostate !!.
he said that the elders received a call from another hall that heard that i was an apostate and 1 local brother also turned me in.. does this mean that they have 2 witness to my sin and that they can df me without a jc?.
It's been 3 years sonce you were at meetings? Ignore them and don't respond to any contact, thus far its sounds like hearsay and if you don't get involved they're likely to drop the matter.
obama lifts a ban on entry into u.s. by h.i.v.-positive peopleby julia preston.
published: october 30, 2009. .
president obama on friday announced the end of a 22-year ban on travel to the united states by people who had tested positive for the virus that causes aids, fulfilling a promise he made to gay advocates and acting to eliminate a restriction he said was rooted in fear rather than fact.. .
But the truth is many people don't even know they are carrying a std
Which made the ban pointless plus it was unenforcable as people who are HIV+ don't have it tattooed on them.
i've recently been invited to attend an alpha course at my local baptist church and for the last 2 weeks i've gone along.
its all been very amiable and pleasant until this week.
the subject was "why and how should i pray?
Boyzone
I know a few people who've been on the Alpha course or associated with churches that promote it. Some left because ultimately it made them suffer from a permanent sense of guilt as it focussed on sin, and how sinful humans are and how undeserving man is of god's kindness. They also felt it to be rather self righteous with a splash of bigotry about homosexuality.
But it also seems to suit a lot of people as the happy clappy version of Calvinism. It's down to you to decide if it's for you.
newer visitors to this board may not be aware of the fact that the first 4 watchtower leaders were all sexual deviants.
i cannot for the life of me figure out how the creator could have personally selected these 4 men as leaders of his only true religion to be examples for all of the faithful.. i especially cannot figure out how the creator would figure these 4 sexual deviants should be used to give sexual marital advice and advice on raising children, since only 1 of the 4 had a kid and he pretty much abandoned that kid for a good part of the kids life.
also, he was the only one who had ever actually had sexual relations although they were mostly adulterous ones.. charles taze russell took "the vow" before his marriage to maria.
1 possible adulterer and 3 celibate men. Deviants?? I was hoping for something a bit more titillating.
ok, i'm sure i am not the first one to be in this predicament but it sure is a headache, my jw ex called a few days ago, apparently she has met someone (they're not dating of course!
) and she wants to me to hand over the golden ticket.
she wants confirmation either in writing or verbally to a third party, that she is "scripturally free" to remarry.. i have managed for years now to avoid any judicial action and my jw family members still associate with me, but that all could come to a screeching halt if i give her what she wants.. the only bright side is she totally robbed me on the divorce; if she gets married i am at least off the hook for "spousal maintenance", that would mean potentially thousands of dollars in my pocket.... .
Tricky one. Depends how long you've been out... and your family still sees you but think you're celibate... doesn't sound like you're close to them. But like other's have said, it's her problem, not yours and there's no guarantee she'll marry this guy so there may be no monetary saving anyway.
