Elders authority over non JW's?
by figureheaduk injust been looking at e-watchman's mailbag (a bit one sided to say the least.........), and there was a question from a girl who is studying with someone else who she's fallen in love with.
it seems that she's been told that they can't date until they've both been baptized - so she asked the e-watchman his advice.
the first sentence of his reply was "the elders in the congregation don't really have authority over those who are not part of the congregation".

I've never read anything about the elders having authority over anything in this system of things other than the activities of the congregations.
It is my feeling that it was simply his opinion on the matter.

As we are westerners ourselves RUBADUB its obvious where we would feel the most safe. Im sure that a group of Saudi's in a room full of Americans wouldn't feel that safe.
I'll take your point on the room full of Americans and Saudis.
Who is more likely to be the suicide bomber and kill everyone in the room, an American or Saudi ???

I really can't think of a predominantly Moslem country that comes to mind that is "moral" and would be a place I would want my family to live.
Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen, Libya, Afghanistan, Sudan, and the list goes on. Since they are nearly 100% Moslem, you would expect them to be examples to the West.
I can think of a lot of peaceful and moderate Western countries that I feel are far more moral than those that practice Islam.
Would you feel safer in a room full of Swedes or Iranians ?????

has anyone else heard this?
it may be that some are using this as a tactic to scare inactives back into the watchtower society along with their needed donations, especially since the pedophile and wts-u.n. scandals.

Watch your language boy/girl
by JH inwhen we were in the org, we had to watch our language, and speak correctly and never swear.
people knew we were jw's just by the way we dressed, but also by the way we talked.
