Stupid is not the right word.
JW's choose to allow other's to make important choices for them.
jw's are supposed to be the cleanest, the happiest and the most honest people on earth.
in reality, do you think that they are amongst the most stupid people on earth??
?

well like i say, just got back from the memorial, have been going most years, but this year i went by chance (knew it was roughly at 7pm at the nearest kh) to my old congregation that i grew up in.
i didn't find the "evil" people spoke of here on this forum, or those too stupid to see.
all i did see was people i hadn't seen in years, and let me tell you, what lovely people they were.
Even Nazi's could put up a good front.
.
at what age would a person have to be to join the witnesses and not suffer too much?.
if they are children, it robs their youth.. if they join in the teens, they won't get a decent education.. if they join at 20 years old, they will have to marry a witness.. if they join at 30, i guess that would be less destructive because they already are married, have children, have a house, an education and a job.. at what age did you join, and how did it affect you?
My great grandparents, my grandmother and father, my mother and father and myself were all born into JW.
All doomed to a life of small minded, no education, condeming thinking.
Whoo hoo!
nothing much to say other than i finally understand why persons who 'don't go' go to the memorial.
it is a good time to reflect on what jesus did.
the funny thing is "jw's" attitude about it is, 'why bother?
This is why I do not want to go the the motions of trying to go to the memorial.
Why bother!!!!!
Jw's do like their wine...........
i just got back from columbus, ohio, where i attended a bible student convention, i stayed with some friends.
one of the speakers was from san diego, ca.
and we stayed at the same home, in the evening he was telling us about beth sarim, having live just a few miles from there.
Of course I have to reply to this topic.
I am wondering how many non-witnesses would even entertain such a ridiculous story.
As witnesses we spent many hours at meetings and in private discussions discussing evil spirits and the danger on demonism. If you were anything like my family, many, many yard sale items were thrown out, some burned because they were thought to be demonized. In fact I remember a booklet we had on the Tuesday night book study that dealt exclusively on the dangers of the occult.
Personally, I was scared to death. Even to this day I am scared of such possibilities...... What a rediculous fear to have as an adult! Why weren't we all taught that the dead are unable to affect our lives in any way. But then there was this demonism. So much more powerful!!! And heaven help us should we turn away from the organization and be left unprotected.
How different is this teaching than the fire and brimstone many churches teach?
since this forum is for cleansing and healing through sharing, i want to share some confessions of an ex-elder.
how could i have allowed myself to be conned into becoming an elder?
and, after becoming an elder, why did it take me 3 years to finally figure out the hypocrisy of the organization?
Always be true to yourself. You made the right choice. We are glad to have you here with us!
ok.i have just joined tonite....is there a time-scale or limit as to when u can get baptized.
i have nearly finished the knowledge book, getting to all meetings.....want to be an unbaptized publisher.
our assembly is in july,,,,is that too soon?
My advise, as a weathered old woman:
Make sure you stay in the un-baptised state. Life is better for you in the witness world pre-dunk rather than post dunk.
Lots and lots of reprocussions come with the post dunk state. As we all know in this forum.

How is it that a witness would have enough money to own a computer and pay out a monthly deduction after never completing high school or getting any higher education? Aren't all witness's in the janitor business? Struggling to pay even their self employment taxes?
has anyone else been told about this...... word out of hq bethel has it that the upcoming special international conventions will contain some kind of major information or releases.. we know the gb has been rather quiet the last couple years after their 'reorganizing'.
perhaps because they are facing the sex abuse scandal..... but also likely they have been working on some fancy surprises for the upcoming special international conventions, to excite their masses......... and also try to detract them from the scandals.
it would be good timing of their part.. this should be interesting......... .
I haven't been a witness for over ten years so I may be a bit behind. Please update me on the financial status of witness's. When I was last active, there was no longer suggested contibutions. I was concerned at that time as to how things would continue then. I am sad things didn't work out.
Also when I left we were just starting to bring our own lunch to conventions. this was really challenging for me a young mother at the tiem. Whatever happened to those fabulous burritoes!!! Remember planning for you place in line to get the many different foods we had. I used to work in concessions as a youngster and this was the highlight of the convention.
Being raised as a witness I am very familiar with the "big" surprises and they never pan out to be anything of interest. At best they are more unfulfilled promises. Remember I was a witness all thru 1975. Guess there all still patiently waiting......
Bless their hearts. Ignorance is bliss isn't it?
