  HELP!!! Hubby turning home into 'Book Study'

  my husband, who's a ministerial servant, was approached by an elder and asked if he'd offer our home to become a 'book study' meeting place.. i'm a bit of a loner, and need lots of peace, quiet, privacy, and solitude; plus to boot you all know i'm living this sort of double life, you know, just doing the very minimum to remain a witness.. this is awful!!!!!!!!!!

  i can't deal with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  after a year of doubting if i would ever be free from feeling ties to the wt, i am proud to be known as an apostate.

  before i was so concerned with what some of the "friends" , would think of me, how they would think the worst of me for being an apostate.

  now i hope they do think about me,,,,,,,, i hope they know i want nothing to do with most of them.

  what are some of the stupidest comments made in the watchtower, or by a circuit overseer or elder that you've never forgotten?

  the one about" the rapist being human" too, ranks right up there....like we're supposed to feel bad for him?

  Here are some gems:

  "What is peach schnapps?"

  "Why would you want more than one beer?"

  and in response to the pedophilia question--"You know, there is a certain percentage of the population that does these things, there are going to be pedophiles, people are going to beat their wives, do drugs, have sex, and the same percentage is going to exist among Jehovah's organization. It's up to you to decide which side you want to be on."

  An elder after being approached by someone who had serious personal problems: "Hey, do you like to go fishing?"

  "It's no skin off my back."-An elder asking me when to set up a judicial hearing.

  "Do you have a problem with masturbation?".(numerous times by the same elder, not only to me, but to all young men)

  Did you like Genesis?

  when i was younger, i listened to groups like genesis, supertramp, pink floyd, and so much more.

  were these groups also popular in the united states, or was it just england and canada?

  when i used to go to the hall, i never listened to that kind of music because i felt it didn't match the religion i was in.

  I absolutely loved (still do) Genesis...I actually skipped a CO's visit to see them in Foxboro, MA about 10 years ago. hehe. No one, not even my elder dad was going to talk me out of it. (I had recently been counciled against seeing Billy Joel-how's that for anal?) I do have a couple old tapes of when Peter Gabriel was with them. Songs like "The Knife", and "I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)" were just classic.

  Now I'm just burning as much of their songs off of Kazaa as I can.---"Mama" is the best song ever IMO

  You noticed that too, ring? It's funny how that works. Weird how little fluff threads get people more upset than deep controversial topics do. Anyway, I think all the people who responded favorably to this thread have a certain level of coolness and baditude. All you other guys are just partypoopers. Just take your ball and go home.
