Judicial Committees should have an option to be public
by EndofMysteries inthinking back to how they went from votes by the congregation under russels time to private closed doors in rutherfords time so as to not waste time, etc, of other members.
if it really wasn't to hide things from the org, it would have an option for the person it's against to have it open to the public.
a time announced for any members or the person to bring any they want to attend.

Sophia and Caleb videos helped wake me up
by Sevan inso the sophia and caleb videos on jw.org where the parents emotionally abuse their children (especially the sparlock/obey jehovah video and the pay attention at the meetings/death threat video) were real eye openers for me.
previous to these videos, i was able to delude myself that the crazy, unbalanced behavior i noticed in some witness parents was the result of their own mental issues.
now i realize this craziness is being pushed and encouraged from the tippy top, from the grand ole maleficent seven.

Interracial Relationships and JWs
by HiddlesWife ini've noticed that within the past couple of decades, i don't see a lot of interracial relationships (ir, for short) in the org.. i, myself, was involved in an ir over 2-3 decades ago and was engaged to get married [my ethnicity is: african-american and latina; my ex-fiance's ethnicity is: scottish and italian].
he broke off the engagement, after three years of friendship and two years of dating, because his uncle and another brother (who was a temporary volunteer at bethel) pressured him to end our relationship [p.s.
: his mother was quite close to my mother, one of my sisters and one of my close cousins.

by The Searcher inparents are forced by the org to regard their disfellowshipped children as if they were dead, non-existent - even if their child was in dire straits.
's feel when they hear that it's ok for elders to try and encourage disfellowshipped ones back to the org, but they can't?.
what the org says: km 8/02 p. 4 par.

Education or propaganda?
by Anders Andersen inlooking for some material to post on facebook or at least share with my wife to somewhat inoculate her mind before the convention this weekend.. found this gem...it's as if the writers are apostates reasoning against the tactics used at this years convention.....(probably old news to many here....quite new for me).. the cunning propagandist loves such shortcuts—especially those that short-circuit rational thought.
propaganda encourages this by agitating the emotions, by exploiting insecurities, by capitalizing on the ambiguity of language, and by bending rules of logic.
as history bears out, such tactics can prove all too effective.. [...].

How to organize to support people transitioning out of the JWs
by Zef ini've been watching escaping polygamy (a show where a group of people help people get out of lds polygamist organizations) and have been thinking a lot about how one could organize to assist jws fleeing.. would love to start a discussion on what would be needed, how it would work and the problems one would have to overcome.. brief outline of services to provide.
1. community: i think most here would agree, that family/friends are a primary reason why people stay in despite no longer believing.
no way to replace that, but providing a group of supportive ex-jw's to share experiences, hangout, do worldly activities with :) could go a long way to make a former jw transition easier.
