The idea of a blood transfusion tends to give me the creeps . Not that i would die over it but still, all the junk science breaks you down and especially with those aids related deaths in the early 80s.

Elder "D": Catholics No Longer Believe in a Trinity
by Saename inso in this topic, i mentioned i had a conversation with an elder "d." this elder said that the catholic church admitted the trinity is unscriptural.
i'm pretty sure this is not true.
the doctrine of trinity is the most fundamental belief in the catholic church.

The idea of a bi unity of Jesus and God comes out of the old testament and the generally idea what new testament writers believed about Jesus. I don't feel like writing another essay about it but it's generally pretty simple.
It's not some Devine revelation bullshit like the watchtower teaches but a matter of understanding old testaments quotes and ideas used in the new testament.
I really don't know why they think they have such a slam dunk on the subject.

I kind of bothers me that the average jw can't explain the book of Romans, what the new conevant is, what is the difference between the old and new testaments is or what old testament Christalogy is yet they have figured out the book of revelations and we are all going to die.
They are literally the nation inquirer of religion.

More scullduggery in the New World Translation?
by NikL ini was reading in jude last night in the esv bible.. i came across this little gem as i was falling asleep and woke right up.. jude 1:5.
5 now i want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that jesus, who saved a people out of the land of egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.
jesus who saved a people out of egypt?

In the old testament is says
1. The Lord leads his people out of Egypt
2. An angel with the name in him of Lord leads his people out of Egypt.
3. The presence of the Lord lead his people of Egypt.
It's the odd interchangeability of these statements which lead to the idea of the diety of Jesus.
Also the old testament is full of statements like " the angel of the jehovah appeared and jehovah said " or " the word of the jehovah appeared and jehovah said.
YouTube Jesus in the old testament by Michael heiser. It's pretty cool stuff. It really shows how the old and new testaments are connected and how it's really is the story of God and Jesus from beginning to end.

The visible touchable manifestations of God in old testament are generally thought to be Jesus Christ. He either appears as the angel of the Lord or word of the Lord. It's says no one has ever seen God only the son in the book of John.
Essentially you have invisible ever present God and Devine manifestion yet they are basically the same thing. It's the whole reason why it makes more sense to use the general title lord than the personal identification of jehovah.
Once you understand what new testament writers are referencing what statements like " he is the visible image of the invisible god" or " Jesus is the perfect representation of the father"......it's just makes it kind of hard to take the watchtower very serious.
Once I started to understand the idea of Jesus in the old testament, I had to stop attending. This very subject woke me up to how stupid wts theology.

Disfellowshipped for being complicit in someone else's sin - really?!
by Isambard Crater ina close friend of mine who is pimo (only staying in for family reasons) in a neighboring congregation called me in tears tonight saying her dad (elder) is telling her he is seriously considering reporting her to her local elders and she could get disfellowshipped.. the reason?
because she is complicit in a gross sin, according to him, by going with her best friend (not a j.w.
) when the friend had an abortion.

Good god, I actually have to agree with elders here.
The waiting list for a health baby child to adopt is over 10 years in Canada and you can't adopt over 45. The sad reality is most childless couples won't get a child while 1 in 3 pregnancies gets flushed down the sink.
You don't need to aid in something like that.

How Knowledge is Dissipated in Talks
by Cold Steel inlondo111 » each congregation has a “talk coordinator”.
talk coordinators will coordinate with other talk coordinators in order to find speakers to give the public talk on sunday.
typically, they come from the general area: the circuit or a nearby circuit.

Mormon theology is completely laughable but in terms as being as destructive to your physical and mental health as the watchtower and tract society, it's not even close.
Not to mention the soul sucking, dream killing and being a general total waste of time, again not even close to the wts.

1914 is the Key !
by Phizzy ini thought this deserved its own topic.
it is a thought that occurred to me as i read the wt rag that i took to be polite.. it is the public one about the 4 horseman, and it struck me that they are still 100% reliant on their false 1914 doctrine to hang everything on.. if 1914 is proved wrong, what can the credibility of their doomsday message hang on ?.
we all know how to disprove the old 2520 years nonsense, but they seem to at last be hiding that, and simply claiming that world events prove jesus slung the devil out of heaven in 1914.. so, what has that old devil done since 1914, 103 years ago ?.

Being a jw simply revolves around a belief that they were the only ones to recognize the invisible return of Jesus Christ in 1914 and how they picked as the only true Christians in 1919.
It's really quite simple to show them what Charles Taze Russell didn't teach anything remotely close to what the WTS teaches today and how obvious it is they cooked the books to arrive at the understanding. Especially how they changed the understanding of a generation to make it fit together.
I know to the vast majority it's a social club and they don't care but it is the single most easy way to show the dishonest factor.
Once that seed is planted.

Why do they flee and hide
by eyeuse2badub insomething that has often struck me in my morning musings is: why should “god’s people” ever need to hide or flee in fear?.
there are numerous accounts recorded in the bible, both ot and nt, where prophets, kings, apostles and others have either been told to flee and hide or have just experienced that normal human feeling of fear and have fled and hidden instinctively.
even recently, the wtbts has produced vivid images in the wt magazine and videos of “god’s people” hiding out in bunkers to avoid detection.. is it just another broken promise from jehober that he will “without fail” protect “his people”?

My wife in six years of marriage, I have never once seen my wife read the Bible, does even read the magazines. Can't answer the simplest of theological questions.
Yet she needed to take a week off work to pioneers. Ducking ridiculous.
