i know we were taught to study all the wts stuff.
prepare for each meeting, prepare for service, (gotta know the articles) etc.
i mean with all the personal study to do, how could anyone have time for newspapers, novels etc.
I sometimes studied ahead....and then felt quite pious about it. Other times I didn't....and felt guilty. Sometimes I would study a paragraph or two ahead of the conductor during the Watchtower Study. Most of the stuff was a repeat anyway, and I remembered the points from the last time we rehashed it.
I would generally study for the Tuesday night book study, since those books were more interesting than the Watchtower. I just never could get into that magazine.

A Thursday night meeting is held at a time that is WAY past a two-year-old's bedtime. I can't believe your mother would even suggest taking him at that hour.

as most of you know, i have been inactive for about 2 1/2 yrs and completely out for about 7 months.
i am debating on wether or not to write a letter of da to the org or not.
in some ways i just want closure, and on the other hand i dont want to play by their rules.
I wouldn't bother to DA myself. Not only is it playing by their rules, but it is also playing into their hands so that they can officially shun you. Why give them any more power than they already have?
I have a friend who felt that she had to DA herself, mainly because she is very needful of a religious group, and she kept gravitating back to the group with which she was most familiar....much to her detriment. She felt that DAing was the only way that she could be sure that she wouldn't be swayed by a JW in believing that things had changed within the BOrg and that everything would be just fine "this" time.

i don't read very many watchtowers or awakes, but the oct. 1, 2002 watchtower seems especially concerned with keeping jws in the borg.

I'd say that this is fairly typical. Most publications stress association with the congregation to a certain degree. This does sound as if their ramping up the counsel a bit, however.

What a shame. It sounds as if she had found someone who made her truly happy, but she gave him up to be an unpaid salesperson for the WTS.
Such a sad story, and such a sad ending to a life that was way too short.

Well, obviously history is wrong, and the archaeological evidence was altered by the Flood waters to make it appear that people were living then. After all, the Flood waters were able to arrange all of the dinosaur bones in deep layers to make it look as if there were various ancient "periods" when certain types of dinosaurs existed. However, all true Biblical scholars know that dinosaurs existed on the earth during the time of Noah, and two of each type of dinosaur were on the Ark with Noah.
Those Flood waters are tricky....oh, yes, they are. They can skew all of these things, dig the Grand Canyon in a matter of days, and preserve plant life engulfed by its waters for over a year with no loss of vigor, so that these plants were flourishing the minute they saw the light of day again and were able to nourish all those dinosaurian survivors of the Flood as soon as they disembarked from the Ark.
