You can of course also compare to previous times like the days of Luther with pandemics and Turks just like today. He thought he was living in the last days. Or how about 1918 with WW1 and spanish flu.

Hi Vanderhoven7,
One Bible believing response would be that Jesus said all the things described in Matthew 24:34 would happen within his generation. They were living in "the end of all things" 1 Peter 4:7. Indeed the Bible uses a lot of symbolism like in Acts 2:16-21 and we have no way of knowing when this world as we know it will end. The Kingdom of God has been here among the believers ever since Jesus was here as man Luke 17:21 and we look forward to a time when God is all in all 1 Corinthians 15:28 ☺️

Remember the Revelation book?
by wozza ini recall when it was released ,that's when i was a drone, how excited i felt at the prospect of reading it and formulating ways to sell it at the homes in my area.. i thought, finally a book to explain the last book in the bible and indeed one that the churches seemed to want to leave alone!.
i sold quite a few probably because of my enthusiasm and can still remember clearly the first day when i went knocking on doors with it ,and it's been decades since.. but over time it lost it's shine and my mind started to question the explanations in it due to the scene of other things being changed in the jw beliefs.. do you remember they flogged that book so many times in the book studies even when it was found to have "newer light " eclipsing it!.
who else remembers the printed pages with the official corrections to insert into the book ,so many that the book collapsed to be of no relevance anymore really.....what an embarrassment!.

Road to nowhere, yeah true but they apply the events to larger stuff than their convention meetings

It is really pretty amazing many jws were silly enough to believe that red revelation book lol. When people do not protest it only empowers the crazies. A group study of Friesen's or Smalley's revelation books had been better

Need help - How do you determine whether to show a JW the truth or not?
by AlainAlam inhow do you determine whether to show a jw the truth or not?.
now some of you still believe in the bible.
to you the answer would be obvious - we preach to anyone as much as possible.

Yes it is a difficult topic. My father clearly knew something was wrong, but the old books by Russell was the furthest he dared to venture into questioning things. He was woefully ignorant about the history of the movement and where Russell got his ideas from. He did not use the internet. I think he died very much in doubt about the doctrines, but sadly probably more about his salvation than the validity of the org. Despite their faults, they were still "the apple of God's eye". They had taken the new testament away from him, so he tried to find sufficient grace in the old. I dont know what would have been hardest, what happened or what would have happened if someone had tried to make him see things differently. That would have been some exorcism.

A chance for the unrighteous?
by AlainAlam inthe witnesses teach that the "unrighteous" are brought back to life in order to learn about god during the 1000-year reign.
i don't think that's a bible teaching, for the following reason:.
1) no verse says that.

Revelation is about God defeating opposition revenging his saints. If you want to look for some graceful stuff, you can note that the nations receive healing Rev 22:2 and the kings of the earth who were previously under judgment carry their riches to the city as some part of reconciliation Rev 6:15, 21:24. Most likely 1 Corinthians 15:24-28 covers a time after anything in Revelation. I believe it is most likely the millenium started in AD 70 and the saints have been ruling spiritually since.

Isn't It Ironic That Many People Now Wish That Many of the Things China is Making Would Actually Be Made in Mexico?
by RubaDub inlet me think of a few advantages to having mexico do more manufacturing for us:.
- low cost labor .
- just drive around or jump over the wall to see family and friends.

What's up with old geezers in the Bible?
by eyeuse2badub inwhat the hell is the problem with the famous “men of old” in the bible?
for some strange reason those old geezers (and some not so old) could not recognize who they were screwing?.
my wife was listening to this week’s bible reading about jacob, laban, and the sisters leah, and rachael.

Eyeuse, you might have a point if Lot did this incest on a regular basis and not a special event. Who knows how he handled liquor anyway. Also who knows what event in particular pissed off God
