Role Reversal: Placing 1969 Awake with JW's Manning the New Portable Literature Displays

in recent weeks the jw’s here in the uk have been setting up their new portable watchtower literature displays in my local town square on a saturday morning.

as they hadn’t knocked on my door for at least five years, and consequently feeling somewhat neglected, i thought that i would pay them a visit instead.. .

the first thing i needed to do was arrange my literature.

Idea for anyone planning on sharing info like this to those working the booth.

What do you think about having another person plan on showing up after you get there and have them listen into the conversation. You would want the other person to not look like they were not involved with you of course, just clarifying. This might make it harder on the Jw to tell you where to get off. They would have to keep their cool and act interested as now there are other people involved and of courser they have to give a good witness.

Dissolving a congregation?

i was a member of a congregation in brooklyn, n.y. prospect congregation to be exact.

in early 2000.it was dissolved.

i never found out why.

I've heard that there was a directive from the WTBTS to get the board members of the local KH Corporation to modify the by laws that allowed the WTBTS to assume ownership of the assets like building etc in case of the dissolvement of the congregation. It was being ram rodded by the CO when he made his visits and thought that I had seen a youtube video about this in the past but cannot find it now. Any information on this?

I watched a old black and white film about "The bicycle theif" a few years ago I think it was made in Italy and had the father who had a job plastering posters on the walls of the town and needed a bicycle to get to and from work?

Is that the one?

Also, not that I'm a bicycle fanatic but remember seeing a movie when I was younger about a town in Mexico where the rich man in town had the only bicycle and a little boy made himself a bicycle out of wood. Anyone remember this as I wanted to show it to my children but cannot find it.

1914 countdown card in 2014 Yearbook

the 2014 yearbook has a scan of the 1914 countdown card.

it does not say whether this was published by the watchtower or independently, so please let me know if you have any further information about it.

in typical offensive fashion, the yearbook blames the members rather than themselves for the false expectations held for 1914.. some bible students even carried a countdown card so that they could mark off each passing day.

The scan from the Oct 15 1913 Watchtower says:

"It is for each to accept or reject the facts"

I found that they would use the word "facts" instead of "evidence" or some other word. To me, when you use the word "facts" it means

it is beyond rejection to believe otherwise. It's like they were trying to allow themselves room for a later rejection of looking to a certain date but at the end of the sentence they insert a word that does not allow room for any other conclusion but to believe what they are pointing at.

As to pointing to Jehovah, I have an app called Star Chart that shows in real time where Alcyon and the Pleides (Messier M45) is located. You move your phone around and it will point the direction to this cluster.

So the next time a child is asked to point to where Jehovah is and I'm present, I will whip out my phone and correct the parent as sometimes M45 is located "through" the Earth.

Worst Ever Field Service Experiences

generally i found most people were pretty apathetic and often surprisingly tolerant , but we've all had some bad ones.

looking back , here were my worst couple of experiences - there probably were others but i've probably long forgotten them or blanked them off.. i was a kid of maybe 13 & it was bitterly cold & pouring with rain.

i was working alone in a middle class street near my school where i knew a lot of my school teachers lived & was scared stiff at every door half the time pretending to press bells , doing the fake knock etc.

Probably about 35 or so years ago my best friend and I were in service out in the country and found a guy that showed some interest and he and his broth asked if we could go over to th firepit and sit down and have a discussion. The firepit consisted of some smooth river rocks laid out in a circle and what was unusual Egyptian paintings on them.

I specifically remember the cross with the loop on top I think is called an Anck. I remember the older brother being on more control of the younger one as he would boss him around.

We were talking our talk and noticed that the older brother was staring at us unusually and looked to be concentrating on us intently. The younger broth kicks in and tells his older brothr to leave us alone An not to mess with us.

I think the oldest brother was trying to put some joo Joo on us somehow with some ancient religion stuff. I'm guessing that was what was going on anyways. Little did he know that jehovah had placed a Ghiza powered force field around us, thanks to CHARLES Taze Russel. , LOL

There is a video on youtube where a ex Jw named Kim, called the WTBTS and talked to them about this youtube channel asking them if it was their official channel and the "Brother" said that the WTBTS has zero presence on youtube or Facebook and that the Legal Team of the WTBTS was working toward shutting these channels down as they were in violation of copywrite laws.
