Hmmm. I never heard of the brine technique. Something I will consider next year.
I thought that the only turkey controversy was to stuff the turkey or not. I am in the "stuff the turkey" camp. I distrust people who don't stuff their turkey.
being that time of the year when you can buy turkeys so cheap (most jw's i know but at least a couple) or in some cases food stores give one away with a purchase exceeding some dollar amount, i was just interested in any interesting recipes.. we usually do the brine thing (3/4 cup salt to 1 gallon of water, a few packets of chicken bouillon, some random additional spices, dry or fresh as desired).
cover the turkey completely and then let it soak overnight ( we usually do about an hour a pound).
not a real precise recipe but it does, in our opinion, make for a much more juicy bird without the typical dryness that often happens.. depending on the size of your refrigerator, it may take some gymnastics to get a big pot with a turkey in it.

i hope you are all having a nice day with family and friends.. :).
My turkey is in the oven. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
i often come across jw's using the "worldwide brotherhood" as one of the reasons to justify that jw's have "the truth.
" such a brotherhood, they claim, would not exist outside the organisation because there is no way that people of different religions, nationalities, races, cultures, backgrounds, languages etc.
can be united and associate together freely without "the truth!".
The last time I heard that phrase "I Found Something Better Than "The Truth," they were selling Amway.
Switching from one cult to another creates no value.
at disfellowshipped people the awake gave me permission poopie so happy.
What specifically made you smile? Did you realize you are earning a 4-year degree reading those rags? Or, was it something else?
I vote no.
i picked up bernard cornwell's the pagan lord at the library.
historical fiction set in england after the death of alfred the great.
i'm loving it, especially the between-the-lines wit and sense of timing in cornwell's writing, and the complete badassery of the protagonist.
I get my recommendations from the NYTimes book review podcast.
A wonderful book I just finished is Elizabeth is Missing. The protagonist has Alzheimer's disease and solves a mystery.
Reading FILTH (Failed in London try Hong Kong). and The Vegetarian.
Both books are not your typical books. Which attracts me to these books.
the wts has always included minors and adults in the same categories - publisher and baptized.. i am interested in knowing how many minors, approximately, are included in the publisher count.
and, at what age a person started publishing.
what age was the youngest publisher reported?.
I was 6 when I started turning in time.I was baptized at 14.
with thanksgiving around the corner, i thought it would be interesting to hear how you, your family or other jw's you knew handled/celebrated thanksgiving.
it seems to me that most jw's view it as harmless and unofficially celebrate it the day before or the day after the actual holiday.
growing up, my mother would host a dinner the day after thanksgiving and used the excuse " well the traditional food for the dinner is discounted at this time, might as well have a dinner".
My mother always cooked turkey on Thanksgiving. More than a few times we invited other JWs to join us.
harris is at his incisive best in his latest podcast.. he likens the situation to being on an aeroplane where the pilot has died and somebody with no experience of flying has grabbed the controls.
we should all be committed to his success.
prize for the best line goes to - "caligula with a iphone".. even if you love trump and despise harris you should appreciate his clarity.. waking up with sam harris....
Trump may be a clown but we chose him and he is our clown for at least the next 4 years, we need to get used to it.
I just checked, I have been around 15 years. Time flies when you are having fun.
Congratulations for a successful decade.
