Mentally Diseased
by Mum inapparently (i'm taking others' word for it) the watchtower publications are asserting that "apostates," i.e., those who have chosen to no longer be jehovah's witnesses, are "mentally diseased.
" there are some important issues with this assertion.. first, they are not mental health professionals and in no position to diagnose mental illness.
do they believe we all have the same "mental disease," or are there different diagnoses for different people who come to their senses?.

Real reasons for changes?
by Mum inhello, everyone.. i have been absent from the board quite a while because i don't have internet service at home.
my financial situation is very tight right now.. a couple of weeks ago, someone posted a topic about why the wt may be moving its printing operation to canada.
i thought the best of the possible reasons given was socialized medicine for the workers / volunteers of the publishing operation.. one reason that i did not see posted -- the one i believe may be one of the chief reasons -- is that the wtbts probably would rather be in a remote location so that when there are protests and demonstrations from former members, they will not be observed by many people.

Poor Excuse for an Apostate
by Mum inwhen i tell anyone i am considered an apostate, they usually think i'm joking and fall over laughing.
after thinking about it, i can understand why.
my lifestyle would prompt a farmyard chicken to take up another interest.

Inconsistency in Placing Blame?
by Mum ini was just reading something about the story in genesis about the angels leaving heaven to mate with earthly women.
does anyone else find it peculiar that the watchtower places no blame on the women?
in the wt world, it is always the less powerful who bears the primary burden of guilt except in this one case.. for example, didn't someone post a wt form which asks an applicant about pedophile practices and then asks if the child did anything to provoke the assault?

Apologize here....
by Mum inour fun-loving friend, nvrgnbk, has turned somber and apologized for "everything.
" i, too, am an unwitting transgressor and owe many apologies, mostly for things i'm sure i don't even remember i did.. let us all apologize here, and then begin an absolution thread, so we've all cleared the air and everyone is forgiven by everyone else.. i'll start:.
i'm sorry.. penitently,.

JW's and Domestic Violence
by Mum init has been a long time since i left the jw organization.
it seems that families may be more fractured now than back then (1979).. recently i was reviewing some materials about domestic violence.
some of the traits of the abuser are traits also exhibited by the watchtower authorities -- specifically, never admitting a mistake, blaming the victim for her/his own abuse, limiting the victim's association with others, particularly family members or supportive resources.. it follows that jw males in particular are almost programmed to become abusive.
