  I Went in Field Service Yesterday!!

  i must say i thoroughly enjoyed doing streetwork for the first time in my life!!.

  it was really cold here in chicago yesterday,snow clouds looming in the sky.

  about 10 am i decided to run home for my cofee break.. as i rushed down the main street,walking quickly,i saw 2 groups of jw's w/ their mags on the main street near home.. i haven't seen any around my territory since last spring.. humph i thought.. i double-timed it home,bundled up,grabbed my stacks of silentlambs posters and ran back to the main street.. i stood on the corner,several feet ahead of them and started saying hi to passers by.

  Tina that's fantastic. Way to go. Now if there only a way to get the addresses of people actually studying with witnesses, that would be perfect. But you've done a great thing.

  most people are under the impression that the watchtower.

  don't break up families, well people lets give them a. few examples.

  since i left the jehovah witnesses my mother .

  I'm not DFed or DAed but I can say that ALL of my witness friends have shunned me. I used to make a point to walk up to them in a store and say hi, how ya doing. But they always looked nervous. Now what pissed me off is I have never said anything "apostate" to a single witness. All I did was to stop attending. Only one witness has been honest with me. After I told him to stop by for a visit he told me that he considers me "dangerous" because he has doubts about the organization himself. I told him we could talk about sports and that religion didn't have to be the topic. He won't come by.

  My only family in there is my son and my son maintains contact, but very little.

  i just wanted to see how many of you watched the survivor finale...and if so what did you think?

  i am a survivor junkie and love it.

  i cannot believe on survivor 4 they are giving the players no food water or fire.

  I didn't enjoy this series as much as the previous two, but it's better than Big Brother anyway. I liked Frank, he seemed to be as honest and stupid as they come. When he did that 'date' with Brandon I just cracked up.

  The next one is in the Marqueses Islands. That should be good.

  Elders and LSD - Any Takers???

  anyone know of any current elders who in the past have taken lsd or other mind bending substances prior to when they got into the untruth?.

  did it affect their minds at all, if so, how?.

  I know of one elder, ex elder now, that took some acid in his youth. Actually he's one of my favorites. Not real serious about things, never got worked up. Other elders would always poke fun at his druggie past. He took it in stride. When his son got DFed he stepped aside and eventually became inactive.

  most of the conventions and get togethers i have seen posted are in the midwest.

  I'm almost in CA. Southern Oregon. I've thought about get-togethers with x-jw's but to be honest my concern is the amount of negativity that MIGHT take place. If it was fun, filled with laughs I'd want to participate.

  Lots of good advice here. I appreciate all of it.

  The evil daughter in law is only zealous when it comes to things that will benefit her. You remember the type, they go to every other meeting, but if they spot you missing you get the phone call that says "we really missed you today".

  So she uses the religion to her advantage.

  I'm less and less concerned about pleasing my son these days. If he wanted to visit us he will, if not he won't. Either way life goes on for us. After you live awhile you start to think back on all the friends and family you've lost. Mostly at my age we lose them through death sadly.

  My heart does bleed for those who've lost their entire families. It's not like it was their choice. The society ripped their families away. How difficult that has to be. Our little problems pale by comparison.

  But I do appreciate all the imput here and I'm going to print this out for the angry wife. I wanted her to calm down this evening and even thought about offering her a glass of wine. But I think I remember her being an angry drunk, so, forget that.

  Jerry the only family we have left as JW's are my son. He most likely would stay in contact with us, he has said he would. But who really knows once those elders start working on him.

  My wife is angry, she'd DA herself today if I weren't holding her back a bit. I would prefer to avoid the "label", but honestly if it happens, so what. We have zero contact with anyone unless they are counting time.

  That idea of sending them a letter letting them know we have NOT DAed ourselves seems like a good one. Perhaps I could mention in there that we just want our space "for now".

  But, we did have a tree up this year, so, as usual, who the hell knows what I'm doing *S*

  What would happen, to inactive witnesses, if you asked your local congregation to make you a do-not-call? After being left alone for two years we seem to be attracting the attention of a couple of car groups each week.

  Think that would be a huge red light for a judicial committee? Or think they would just put it on the territory cards to stay away? Or something else?
