I fear that letters sent in response won't be read unless they begin, "I would like to have a free home Bible study."

Article: Passing the Time By Firing Back at Jehovah’s Witnesses — With Letters
by AndersonsInfo inhttps://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/arts/under-the-sun-why-a-local-woman-wants-to-nail-the-jehovahs-witnesses-11545704.
kayleigh had run out of postage stamps and was waiting for new ones to arrive.
it was slowing her assault on a local congregation of jehovah’s witnesses.. she pointed to a stack of letters she’d already written to what she liked to call “the jws.”.

JW's coming on to this site to preach.
by Overrated inwebmaster for removing jw's that come on here to preach their crap.
i don't want to hear their fake stuff.
i come here to recover from their damage and to help others.

I doubt that they are actually trying to convert or persuade anybody with this kind of "preaching."
All they do is cut and paste from jw dot org and immediately move on to another online forum.
It's just their way of counting time as they wait for Armageddon.

The same thing is happening on social media.
A lot of JWs cut and paste WT talking points in hit and run fashion.
When you try to engage them in discussion, no chance.
They left the minute they made their OP.

What Do Today’s Jehovah’s Witnesses Really Think?
by minimus inwhen i was a witness i knew what my beliefs were and could defend my views, even if it really was wrong.
i understood jw doctrines .
i could define what the faithful and discreet slave was.

Why has it changed, Minimus?
My thought is that if JWs are able to explain and defend their beliefs, they're more of a danger to the organization when "new light" abandons that understanding.
Then, too, some of the "new light" is simply incomprehensible and impossible to defend, such as overlapping generations.

"What are Jehovah's Witnesses all about?"
"The truth" = Whatever the GB says today
No need to understand, just a need to constantly keep up and forget you ever believed otherwise

Daily text 15.4.21 Unbelievable hypocrisy. Don't be the master of another's faith
by Diogenesister inyoutuber "king of fader's" caught this unbelievable piece of cant from watchtower in thursday's life and ministry 'daily text'.. (based on 2 corinthians 1:24 " not that we lord it over your faith").
"jehovah has not given us authority to make personal decisions for others.
someone who makes needless rules is not protecting his brothers safety - he is trying to become the master of his brothers faith.
-

Of course, all of the rules of "the faithful and discreet slave" are needed...
That they can say this with a straight face shows how out of touch with reality they are.

"New light": how and when did this idea start?
by psyco inhow and when did the "understanding" of the progressive ("new light") understanding start?.
anybody knows?.
thanks!.

The WT uses "new light" to have it both ways.
On the one hand, it's used to posit that the organization leaders understand more now that anyone else did in the first 20 centuries C.E. -- the light has gotten brighter in the end times for those who are "in the truth."
On the other hand, it's used to excuse all its previous errors and to make the latest adjustments look like never-ending blessings and revelations from Jehovah to the faithful and discreet slave.
Thanks to this sleight of hand, the vast majority of JWs don't notice that until 2013 the faithful and discreet slave didn't know who the faithful and discreet slave was (Russell v. all the anointed as a group v. the GB) nor did they understand who the domestics were (the anointed as individuals v. the anointed plus all the other sheep) to whom they were supposed to be providing good spiritual food in due season.
Nor do they notice that it could all change tomorrow when the light gets brighter still and what used to be "the truth" turns into "old light" which needs to be dismissed and forgotten.

Threating to Sue
by Ding inwhat is the wt doing these days if someone das but threatens to sue if the elders make an announcement that leads to shunning?.
i know the elders are supposed to notify the legal department, but what is the legal department telling them to do?.

UPDATE: Wife Pretty Much Knows That I Don't Believe
by JW_Rogue inwe had a nice long talk and i brought up some things that make me think that this isn't the "truth" and she somewhat agreed with me.
i stuck with things i personally experienced or had knowledge of plus all the changes in recent years.
she agreed on a lot of the points but still believes in god and the bible.

When You Were A Witness Did You Believe Everything Taught?
by minimus inobviously at some point you stopped believing the witnesses had the truth or else you wouldn’t be here.
.
but for the most part, were you a true believer or were you typically a rebel or a doubter?

Ironically, when I first started studying with JWs, they told me people of Christendom don't study the Bible for themselves but just believe whatever their priests or pastors tell them.
