I knew a presiding overseer who left the borg over 1975 -- not because the GB got it wrong but because they blamed the rank and file for the fiasco.

JULY 2025 STUDY WT How to Give Advice
by blondie ini scanned this article and i saw a theme throughout it.
when info like this shows up in the study wt, you can be sure the elders are doing it wrong and the wts hits directly on what it is.
older elders do it wrong and train by word and action the newer elders to do it wrong.

This comes across to me as the WT giving instructions to immature people.
... now, don't give medical advice if you aren't trained in medicine...
Duh...

We are living in the last days and times will get tough?
What???
Who knew....?
Obviously, the solution is to:
1. Do more field service
2. Attend more WT meetings
3. Send all your money to the Watchtower organization.
Problem solved...

Memorial attendance
by Balaamsass2 incurious.
what was your local memorial attendance like tonight?
-
Ding
About a month ago, I encountered several JWs at a literature cart in a major airport.
They invited me to the Memorial.
I just rushed off to my plane.
Later, I kicked myself for not doing some reverse witnessing.
I could have said: "I actually attended a Watchtower Memorial once but I found it really confusing. Who invites someone to a meal and then tells them they aren't worthy to partake? When Jesus instituted the meal in the first century, did he invite any non-participants to come and watch? No. So why does the Watchtower do so?"

If attendance is high, the GB will tout that as proof that JWs have the truth.
If attendance is low, the GB will talk about people's hearts growing cold in the last days, proving that Armageddon is just around the corner.

Diligence and Enthusiasm - LDS vs JWs
by Rivergang inon a scale of 1 to 100, i would put the lds in the high 90s, and the witnesses at about minus 10.. these days (well, around here at least) one encounters the mormon missionaries all over the place.
if they are not knocking at your door, they are approaching you out in the street.
of late, this has been happening all the bloody time!.

Over the last 5 years, we've had about 20 LDS missionaries knock on our door or come up to us on the street but no JWs (of course, JWs have us on their DNC list). The KH parking lot has quite a few cars in it during the week but I haven't seen any of them actually out in service.

How to spot wolves in sheep's clothing!
by BoogerMan inw64 11/1 pp.
645-646 wolves in sheep’s covering - "can you detect them?
how can you avoid becoming their prey?....to his first-century disciples jesus sounded a warning that applies to us today with even greater force: “look out that you are not misled; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘i am he [anointed],’ and, ‘the due time has approached.’ do not go after them.” (luke 21:8) .

It amazes me how often the GB denounces some unnamed person or group without realizing that their denunciation applies full force to themselves: "The peril would be not so much from the openly avowed opponents of Christ as from those who would rise up claiming to be Christ [anointed] or claiming to exercise the rights and prerogatives of Christ as his empowered representatives. Disarmed by an outward show of godliness and by “smooth talk and complimentary speech,” many unwary Christians would be seduced into following ‘wolves in sheep’s covering’ and eventually becoming prey to such selfish deceivers."

How Do JWs Understand Salvation & What Is Needed to Obtain It?
by LauraLynn infrom my experience within the jw organization, i understood that salvation meant a person accepted the teachings of the wbts without question as the "faithful and discrete slave," thereby placing their trust in them, not jesus christ.
salvation consisted of being found "righteous" by jehovah and resurrected to everlasting life in an earthly paradise.
to obtain this salvation, one needed to obey the organization's teachings, remain a faithful jw, and lead a moral life.

WT "Salvation" = Jehovah deeming you worthy of a resurrection (or surviving Armageddon)
How obtained = "exercising faith" in Jehovah's name and in Jesus' ransom sacrifice = serving Jehovah as part of his earthly organization (the Watchtower Society) by obeying "the faithful and discreet slave" (the GB) sufficiently well and remaining faithful to the end of your life.
"Sufficiently well" = only Jehovah knows (most likely more than what you have been doing)

Welcome!
What was it that convinced you the Watchtower religion isn't the truth as it claims to be?
