  Desensitized by the Bible

  i have an old friend who grew up jw in my original congregation and is now on his latest wife.

  unlike the somewhat religious ambivalence of his previous wives, this one he says is right on par with his religious view.

  which is very conservative christian.lately, his wife posted on facebook about the horrible things in the world and the roll media takes in desensitizing us.

  My first cart witnesses

  my son, his girlfriend, and i were on a little bit of a light rail adventure yesterday.

  it was mid-afternoon and there was an area where tracks were being worked on and we went on foot.

  i passed by my first witnessing cart.

  there are many words in the bible, but very few of them claim to be written by god himself.. some of them claim to be spoken by god.

  people say the books are inspired by god.

  but what does inspired really mean?

  i know the traditional sense of the words.

  if you're blessed, good things happen to you.

  now this guy is a nutjob kind of like the ancient alien guys.

  this pyramid has been a fascination of crackpots for years.

  Cain - where's the critical thinking skills?

  just read a post on facebook where somebody is making some wild crazy-talk about the descendants of cain being the beast of revelation or something.. cain was always a strange tale to me.

  don't people use any critical thinking skills when they read this stuff?

  everybody knows cain killed his brother abel, but do they ever look at the surrounding tale?.

  it was about half an hour from start to finish.

  they opened with basic facts about the person.

  Another JW caller on today's Atheist Experience?

  this guy seems a bit nuts (doesn't all jw belief?).

  but listen to edward from about 26 - 45 minutes in.. he talks about against world religion but believes in god.

  he says it's all for some reason of proving his point against the devil and that things in the bible are deliberately complicated so as to find people really seeking him.
