If I were a non-JW attending a funeral out of respect for the deceased, I'd really be turned off by the whole event being a recruiting session for the WT religion.
In other words, their approach would be completely counterproductive.

My son went to a funeral about 6 years back. We left the JWs just before he started Kindergarten, so they never got their chance to brainwash him. When they got to talking about the resurrection of the dead, my son was not thinking of some paradise, but rather a zombie apocalypse, and the rising of the dead. He was about 18 at the time. After I finally explained to him what they meant, he told me that that was the dumbest thing he ever heard. After that, he gave me one of the biggest hugs and thanked me again for not raising him up in that bull, I can't use the actual word he said because it would be censored.
